Will's Way 5k

Will's Way 5k Will's Way 5k is an annual walk-road race at the Plainfield Town Hall in memory of William Joseph How

The Will's Way 5k Scholarship is awarded to a college-bound Plainfield High School Senior who exhibits caring attributes, just as William did. William would have graduated in 2013, therefore the committee has decided to award two $2,500 scholarships in his memory.

Today we'd like to invite you to come out and support a wonderful cause in Plainfield, which uses the same route as we have used for Will's Way! Here are the details:

The family of Matthew Tillinger will be holding their first annual March For Matthew 5K and a 1 Mile Fun Walk in great honor of their beloved Matthew who's life was cut way too short by an aortic aneurism only two years ago at the age of 21. This will start at the Town Hall and take on the same route as Will's Way 5K. Feel free to sign up and register on www.marchformatthew311.com. Sign ups for welcome day of race. First 50 signups receive a FREE March For Matthew T-Shirt to wear on day of race! Sponsors from local vendors like Mr. Z's will be providing post race Pizza, Nummies Bakery will have their delicious cookies at the race, complimentary waters, DJ, we will be collecting donations for giveaways and there will be a ton of giveaway baskets to choice from. We anticipate a beautiful day in celebration of Matthew and creating awareness towards this serious genetic disease. Proceeds go to the John Ritter Foundation of Aortic Health and Awareness and a scholarship towards a young boy who wants to get into automotive schooling. We feel blessed to use the same route as Will's Way 5K and keeping that route and love alive for our loved ones that are definitely smiling down watching us make them proud from Heaven. We hope to see you all there. Feel free to contact [email protected] and/or 860-917-3520 with any other questions or concerns. Volunteers are also welcome, please contact the email and number above if interested as well. Thank you!!

If you have race questions, please direct them towards the March for Matthew FB page.
Thanks for your help in supporting a wonderful cause to keep memories alive and families active in Plainfield!

Volunteers, sponsors, racers, walkers, the Town of Plainfield, and all other supporters of the Will's Way 5k: Thank you. Each one of you has contributed to an enjoyable race and walk since 2010. More importantly, you've helped our family during a time of intense grief and loss obtain another dimension of closure in Will's passing. To date, we have raised upwards of $100,000 in scholarship funds in William's memory... And it's all thanks to the collaboration of you, our loyal supporters.
Our current status will allow us to provide twenty-nine years of scholarships to Plainfield High School seniors. In reaching this milestone, we are no longer seeking to continue our main fundraising event, the 5k.
With that being said, I'd like to make a personal note to anyone taking the time to read this far. It may be difficult for you to understand the depth of closure you've provided to Will's family and friends... It can't be described in a Facebook post, or put into conversation. Will's Way has given us a channel to express our grief constructively, and finally obtain a comfortable level closure in his death. Furthermore, despite mixed opinions and various issues with our small town, Will's Way is yet another testament to the unity and support structure that makes Plainfield such a great place to live. It's safe to say that nearly everyone in our community has positively impacted Will's Way at some point or another. From the runners, walkers, sponsors, volunteers, fire/police departments, ambulance(s), and the great folks at the town hall... ESPECIALLY Paul Sweet, who (like many of you) has supported our cause since it was merely an idea.
In conclusion, we are no longer putting on our annual 5k. Thank you all, it's been an honor to work with such a supportive, loving community.
Best Regards,
The Will's Way 5k Committee

Happy New Year from your friends at Will's Way 5k! We'd like to extend our best wishes for 2015.
We have some unfinished business to take care of involving awards from 2014's 5k. As you may know, an Excel error was made during registration, which compromised the accuracy of our race results. We have worked with SNERRO to revise them over ten times, and there are still discrepancies over age/gender placement.

On our end, we are unable to provide accurate race results for 2014. It has been a humbling experience to say the least, especially considering the incredible support shown by all of you since our inception in 2010. Despite this crucial error, we are looking to set this straight with your help. So this is our plan of action:

If you believe there is even a CHANCE you (or someone you know) may have placed in the top three of a division, please message this account with your information by Friday, January 9, 2015. After all submissions have been reviewed and filed, we will message you individually by Monday morning to obtain your address for the shipment of your award.

We cannot express our gratitude for your loyal support, even through the registration error. Thank you for your help in making this right. It is the least we can do for all who have helped to make Will's Way what it is today.

All the best, we look forward to hearing from you.

Racers, walkers, volunteers, sponsors, Plainfield PD/FD, and spectators: Thank you! Thank you for making our fifth year another memorable addition to our cause. It seems like yesterday when Will's premature passing validated the need to keep his memory alive and well.
Since the tragedy, the countless amount of family and friends touched by William and his passing have turned the idea into, not only a promising vision, but a successful tribute to Will's name year after year. If you are reading this, YOU are a supporter. Because of you, and your involvement with our cause, our community is able to collaborate for a day and celebrate life together. I, and the Board are thankful for this opportunity every day. Today I'd like to specifically thank you for the high level of success that accompanied yesterday's 5th Annual Will's Way 5k. We couldn't do it without all of you.
Best regards,
CM

Interesting... Not to mention, a great incentive to purchase a BRAND NEW Will's Way 5k Wicking T-Shirt! On sale tomorrow for only $15.00! Limited to 100 shirts.

No, wearing the race shirt is a rookie move.By David Graf I would like to start off by quoting the good book, The Runner's Rule Book, page 133, Rule 3.5: "Wearing the official race shirt during the race is like wearing a U2 t-shirt to a U2 concert. Not cool. Don't do it."
