On July 8, our community joined more than 1,100 locations across the country in a simultaneous reading of the Declaration of Independence to celebrate America's 250th anniversary.

As the Declaration reminds us, "We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal..." Those words have inspired generations to continue striving toward the ideals on which our nation was founded.

The Plainfield Lions Club was proud to partner with The Rotary Club of Plainfield to provide food and refreshments while the Plainfield Public Schools - CT's band and chorus entertained the crowd.

A special thank you to America 250, Plainfield, Ct for organizing this meaningful event, to the students who read portions of the Declaration, and to the Daughters of the American Revolution for helping bring history to life. It was a wonderful evening of community, history, and celebration.
