Our 2nd Annual Real Men Wear Purple Golf Outing is September 19th, and the Alina’s Light team is getting ready for another beautiful day of golf, community, and purpose!

This event has a very special meaning behind it. Real men wear purple because real men love, respect, support, and protect the women in their lives. 💜

The latest heartbreaking news involving a young woman from our Pittsburgh community hits incredibly close to home for all of us at Alina’s Light. 💜

Our hearts go out to Karoline’s family, her friends, and everyone affected by this unimaginable tragedy.

Stories like Karoline’s are painful reminders of why education about domestic violence and healthy relationships is so important. We need to teach our young people what healthy love looks like, how to recognize warning signs, understand boundaries, and know when to ask for help.

This is why we continue the work we do at Alina’s Light—through education, prevention, awareness, and advocacy. We cannot undo these tragedies, but we can keep working to prevent another young life from being taken and another family from experiencing this devastating pain.

Each year, Alina’s Light proudly presents scholarships to students at Dance INK in honor of Alina and the joy she found in dancing.

We are so excited to congratulate this year’s scholarship recipients, Flora Farrell and Lexi Schmidt!

These beautiful girls were recognized as standout students in every class and received their scholarships with happy tears! 💜

It means so much to us to see Alina’s passion for dance continue to shine through the next generation of young dancers.

Keep dancing, keep dreaming, and keep shining your light. ✨

September 19th is about a month out, and the Real Men Wear Purple Golf Outing is filling up!

3 Lakes Golf Course in Penn Hills. Registration at 7:15am, shotgun start at 8:00. $125 per golfer covers breakfast, lunch at the turn, and a catered dinner at AOH when you come off the course. There's a 50/50, basket auctions, and $400 waiting for the first place team.

We cap at 120 golfers (30 teams) - don’t miss this opportuntity to have a great day for a great cause. Contact Cody at 412-862-9616 and he'll get your foursome on the list. Payment is due by September 10th.

Our Real Men Wear Purple golf outing is back on September 19th at 3 Lakes Golf Course in Penn Hills. We hope to see you there in your best purple golfing polo!

We don't do this alone, and we don't want to.
Women's Center & Shelter of Greater Pittsburgh has been a real partner to us, doing the hard work of keeping survivors safe every day. Harmony Dog Rescue partnered with us on the Best Bandana Contest at our Walk, Run & Family Fun, and it added something good to the day. Pitt has been a partner too, showing up for what we're building. And there are so many other partners who have supported Alina's Light throughout the years, more than we could ever list here.
And to the survivors who came out and received their flowers, thank you for being there. We know what it means to be seen, and we don't take it lightly that you let us see you.
These partners, and every survivor who trusted us enough to show up, are the reason this works.

Our volunteers are the heartbeat of every event we do.

They're the ones showing up early to set up tables, standing in the sun handing out water, running the kids' activities, checking people in, packing up at the end when everyone else has gone home. None of it happens without them. Not the Walk, not Lunch with Santa, not a single thing we put on.

Something about this year felt different. Bigger, warmer, louder in the best way. People stayed after they didn't have to. Strangers walked next to each other and left as friends.

The feedback we've gotten so far keeps saying the same thing: one of the best events we've ever had. We think so too.

Thank you to every person who showed up, and to our sponsors who made the whole day possible. You gave this community a place to come together, and that's not a small thing.

Yesterday was everything we hoped it would be.

Settler's Cabin was full of people who got up early on a Saturday in July to walk and run and eat and hang out with us. Some of you have been coming for seven years now. Some of you were there for the first time. Either way, you showed up, and that's the whole thing.

Our team worked so hard for this. Weeks of phone calls, hauling boxes, stuffing bags, chasing down donations, setting up before the sun was really awake, and then breaking it all down again at the end of a long hot day. Nobody gets paid for that. They do it because they love Alina and they love this community.

Thank you to our sponsors, our volunteers, the businesses who donated baskets, and every single dog who came out in a bandana. Thank you to the families who brought their kids. Thank you to everyone who bought a ticket, shared a post, or just told a friend about us.

Every year we look around at that crowd and we can't quite believe it. Alina should be here. She isn't. But all of you are, and because you were there yesterday, we can do more for the women and children who need help.

We're spending today going through pictures and smiling at all of it. Tag yourselves, share your photos, we want to see them.

This is it. Tomorrow morning at 8am, we'll be at Settler's Cabin Park setting up tents, unboxing shirts, and getting ready for the best day of our year.

If you've been meaning to register for the Walk, Run & Family Fun and haven't yet, right now is the moment. Adults are $40, kids 6 to 12 are $20, under 5 are free, and every ticket comes with a shirt, a bracelet, a food voucher, and a full day of activities. Dogs welcome, bandanas encouraged.

Every single registration funds SOS devices for people facing domestic violence. That's not a tagline, that's literally where your money goes. A device that looks like jewelry and calls for help in seconds. They have saved lives, and tomorrow you can be part of the reason they save more.

We'll be there from 8am to 3pm. Come for an hour or stay all day. Just come.
