That's Elly up at the microphone. As Alina's mom, this is the hardest and most meaningful thing she does all year.

When she looks out at the crowd, all the purple, all the families who came out, she's looking at the community that grew out of losing her daughter. She built Alina's Light so Alina's life would keep meaning something, and so another family might never have to feel this kind of loss.

This day is where all of it comes together for her. For a few hours she gets to stand in front of all of you and feel Alina everywhere, in every person who showed up because they care.

We watch her up there every year and we're reminded exactly why we do this. Her love for Alina never went anywhere. It grew into all of this, into a whole community that shows up for each other.

Thank you for being part of it.

The Robinson Girls Softball League did the sweetest thing.

The girls held their Hit-A-Thon this season and gave everything they raised to Alina's Light, $3,320 in all. They made a banner for us and hung it on their field too, and they asked that the money go to our scholarship program.

A whole league of girls spent their season raising money to help others. We don't take that lightly.

Thank you to all of you, the girls and their parents and coaches, and to the Robinson Girls Softball League board for getting behind it. Our Montour family is amazing, and we're so grateful.

July 25th is creeping up fast, and we'd love to see you there.

Our 7th annual Walk, Run & Family Fun is at Settler's Cabin Park, 8am to 3pm. We walk, we run, the kids burn off energy at the activities, everybody eats, and for a few hours we get to be a community that believes domestic violence shouldn't be anyone's story.

Tickets are $40 for adults and $20 for kids 6 to 12. Kids 5 and under are free. Your ticket gets you a shirt, a bracelet, a food voucher, and a full day with people who show up for each other.

Every dollar goes back into the work. SOS devices, school presentations, real support for families who need it.

Grab your spot at alinaslight.com. The sooner you register, the sooner we know to count you in.

Every year we get to do one of our favorite things. We pick two Montour students and hand them the Alina's Light scholarship in Alina's name.

This year those two are Nina Captline and Gabriella Good.

Yan and Elly were there to present them in person. Watching these two stand up there full of light and talent and big plans for what comes next. Alina loved Montour. Musical theater was one of her greatest joys, and seeing kids who pour themselves into performing the way she did keeps a piece of her right there with them.

To students who love the arts the way Alina did. It's our way of saying we see you, we believe in you, and we're proud to send you off with a little bit of Alina's light behind you.

Congratulations Nina and Gabriella!

Cayley, a student at Montour High School, chose Alina's Light for her Global Studies project. She didn't pick something easy. She picked something hard and personal and built her whole board around Alina - her story, her photo, what happened, why it matters. She handled it with so much care.

This is what we mean when we talk about the next generation. Kids like Cayley who see something painful and decide to learn it, name it, share it with their classmates instead of looking away.

Joelene Hester is the teacher behind it. Her classroom has a sign on the wall that reads "In this room you matter, you are loved, you have a voice, you are valued." She means it. You can feel it the second you walk in.

Cayley, thank you for honoring Alina the way you did. Joelene, thank you for the kind of teaching that turns a project into something a kid will carry with her.

Today we remember the men and women who gave their lives serving this country. And the families who carry that loss long after the rest of the world has moved on.

Thank you. Truly. To them, and to everyone who loved them.

Wishing everyone a peaceful Memorial Day.

Lamar Advertising of Pittsburgh is doing it again this year. Closer to July, you will start to see billboards all over Pittsburgh for our 7th Annual Walk, Run & Family Fun. They have shown up for us year after year, and we will never stop being grateful.

Thank you, Lamar. Truly. Your generosity helps us reach people who might never have heard Alina's name otherwise. That matters more than we can say.

If your business would like to stand alongside Lamar and so many others who help make this Walk possible, we are still welcoming sponsors. Every sponsorship goes straight into the work, including the SOS devices that have literally saved lives.

See you July 25th at Settlers Cabin Park.
