What a day. 💚♟️
The third annual Duo Cup was truly something special.
This weekend, young chess players from across the Pittsburgh region came together for a morning filled with competition, learning, laughter, and community, and we could not have asked for a better way to celebrate Chess Week in Pittsburgh.
A huge thank you to Duolingo for their continued partnership and for sponsoring this year’s Duo Cup. Their support helps us create opportunities like this for young people across our region and continue building spaces where students can compete, learn, connect, and grow through chess. We are incredibly grateful to have them as a partner in this work.
Thank you as well to the Boys & Girls Clubs of Western Pennsylvania for welcoming us into the Estelle S. Campbell Clubhouse, to our incredible Queens Gambit team and volunteers, and, of course, to every family who spent their Saturday with us.
We also had some very special visitors for this year’s Mascot Challenge - Duo, Steely McBeam, and Oscar! Stay tuned for more from that showdown. 👀♟️
Seeing a room full of young people thinking several moves ahead, cheering one another on, and falling even more in love with the sport is exactly why we do this.
