Every move might not lead to a win, but every move teaches something.

At Queens Gambit, students learn to reflect, adapt, and keep moving forward. That mindset lasts far beyond the board.

Confidence doesn’t appear overnight.

It grows through trying, learning, adjusting, and making the next move anyway.

That’s what students practice every time they sit down at the board.

What a great day at the Duo Cup! ♟️

We loved seeing so many students challenge themselves, show incredible sportsmanship, build confidence, and connect through chess. Days like today are a reminder of how powerful community-centered learning experiences can be.

A huge thank you to our amazing partners and supporters including The Urban Academy of Greater Pittsburgh Charter School, Remake Learning, and Duolingo for helping make this event possible. We are so grateful for your support of youth learning, leadership, and chess in Pittsburgh.

And congratulations to Shawn from Wi******er Thurston School on winning 1st Place! An incredible accomplishment in a very competitive field. 👏♟️

Thank you as well to all of the families, volunteers, coaches, and players who made today such a success. We can’t wait for the next tournament in July!

What youth practice becomes how they think.

Through chess, they learn to slow down, look ahead, and understand the impact of every move they make.

That’s a skill that carries far beyond the board.
