Brookline Teen Outreach

Brookline Teen Outreach Brookline (Pittsburgh) teen center that guides teenagers to make positive life choices through tutoring, counseling, service-projects and fun programming.

Brookline Teen Outreach is more than a place for teens to hang out. It is a place for them to explore their potential and opportunities, aplace for them to learn and grow, a place for them to be accepted no matter who they are or where they come from, and a place to put the past behind them and look forward to a more positive future while building up the community around them. Our team of voluntee

rs is committed to carrying out this mission by providing free tutoring by tutors trained in many subject areas. Our center will provide the only mental health services in the area by licensed counselors. Our collaborations with other area non-profits working toward the betterment of our community have already begun to make an impact. But most importantly it is our commitment to the teens of this area, our hope that they can accomplish all that they have the ability to achieve, and that we can help set them on the path to success.

In honor of national smile day, we want to take a moment to recognize Maeve. This spring, our youth explored photography as a powerful form of self-expression through a Gold Award project led by a senior-level Girl Scout from a local troop.

Participants learned photography skills while using their creativity to share their stories, perspectives, and experiences.

This program created a safe space for youth to build confidence, connect, and be heard. If you would like to read more about this project, visit our website at https://bit.ly/4cKOKlt

Our S.T.E.M Corner has grown a lot over the last decade, from a couple boxes of LEGOS to shelves stacked with S.T.E.M supplies and tools for experiments. Growing our environment, and growing our minds 🧠

Quick Tip of the Month

Make Time for Mindfulness!

May is all about growth and renewal—take a few minutes each day to pause, breathe, and check in with yourself. Encourage yourself or your teen to try a simple mindfulness practice: journaling, deep breathing, or a short walk outside.

Tip: Pair mindfulness with nature—spending time outdoors can boost mood, reduce stress, and spark creativity.

For over 10 years, Brookline Teen Outreach (BTO) has been a safe space, a mentor, and a launchpad for youth in our community 💙

Every day, we support teens facing real challenges—food insecurity, mental health struggles, social isolation, and limited access to opportunity.

And the need is growing.

Today’s teens are navigating more pressure than ever at school, at home, and in their communities. For many, BTO is more than a program—it’s a lifeline.

At BTO, young people find:
✨ A safe place to belong
✨ Mentorship and trusted relationships
✨ Mental health and wellness support
✨ Creative, athletic, and STEM opportunities
✨ Basic resources like food and hygiene supplies

We’re incredibly grateful to the A.J. and Sigismunda Palumbo Charitable Trust for their generous grant award in support of Brookline Teen Outreach 💙

Rooted in a legacy of investing in young people, the Trust continues to honor Antonio J. and Sigismunda Palumbo by supporting organizations that strengthen communities across Western Pennsylvania. Their commitment to education, health, and social services—especially for youth—deeply aligns with our mission.

This support is more than funding. It’s an investment in hope, opportunity, and the long-term wellbeing of the young people we serve.

Because of partners like the Palumbo Charitable Trust, we’re able to continue offering programs that build confidence, resilience, and brighter futures.

We are honored to be part of their lasting legacy and deeply thankful for their belief in our work and our community 💙
