Brookline Teen Outreach Brookline (Pittsburgh) teen center that guides teenagers to make positive life choices through tutoring, counseling, service-projects and fun programming.

Brookline Teen Outreach is more than a place for teens to hang out. It is a place for them to explore their potential and opportunities, aplace for them to learn and grow, a place for them to be accepted no matter who they are or where they come from, and a place to put the past behind them and look forward to a more positive future while building up the community around them. Our team of voluntee

rs is committed to carrying out this mission by providing free tutoring by tutors trained in many subject areas. Our center will provide the only mental health services in the area by licensed counselors. Our collaborations with other area non-profits working toward the betterment of our community have already begun to make an impact. But most importantly it is our commitment to the teens of this area, our hope that they can accomplish all that they have the ability to achieve, and that we can help set them on the path to success.

Thank You & Farewell to Our Summer Interns

As summer comes to a close, we are saying goodbye and a heartfelt thank you to our incredible summer interns.

Throughout their time at Brookline Teen Outreach, they brought energy, compassion, creativity, and dedication to every part of our work. From supporting daily programming and activities, to building relationships with youth, to stepping in wherever needed, they helped make this summer meaningful and impactful.

Our interns played an important role in keeping our space welcoming, fun, and supportive during a busy season of growth and connection. Their contributions will continue to be felt by the youth and families we serve.

We are grateful for all they gave to our community and proud of the growth they experienced during their time with us. While we will miss seeing them each day, we are excited for what comes next in their journeys.

Getting Ready for the School Year: Help Us Start Strong

As we prepare to reopen for the school year, Brookline Teen Outreach is getting ready to welcome youth back into a safe, supportive, and fully stocked space.

Back-to-school season is one of our busiest and most important times of year. We are working hard to ensure our program areas, pantry, and activity spaces are ready to meet the needs of the young people and families we serve.

To help us start the year strong, we are asking for community support in two ways:

Starting Monday, August 24th, our new club/group schedule will begin. On a weekly basis, we are offering the following:

Monday - LGBTQIA+ Club @ 4:15
Tuesday - Girls Group @ 4
Wednesday - Guys Group @ 3:30; Entrepreneurship Club @ 4:30
Thursday - Photography Club @ 3:45
Friday - Cooking Class @ 4

Homework Help will be available on a daily basis and we also will be offering Debate Club and Poetry Club on select days.

Quick Tip of the Month

As August brings transitions and preparation for the school year, it’s normal for routines to feel a little off. One simple way to support your mental health is to gently rebuild structure—without being hard on yourself in the process.

Try this:

Set 1–2 small daily anchors (like waking up at a consistent time or taking a short walk)
Break tasks into smaller steps instead of overwhelming to-do lists
Give yourself permission to adjust slowly rather than “snap back” all at once
Remember: routine is meant to support you, not pressure you.

Small, steady habits can help your mind and body feel more grounded as the season shifts.

Brookline Teen Outreach is grateful to the American Eagle Outfitters Foundation for their generous support of our teen leadership programming. Their investment helps provide young people with opportunities to build confidence, develop real-world skills, and discover their potential as leaders in their communities.

Through this support, BTO’s Teen Leadership Programming gives youth dedicated opportunities to explore their strengths, develop leadership skills, and build meaningful connections. Participants engage in activities focused on communication, teamwork, decision-making, goal setting, self-advocacy, and preparing for future academic, career, and personal success.

The programming provides hands-on opportunities for teens to practice leadership, take ownership of projects, support their peers, and learn how their voices and ideas can create positive change. Youth are encouraged to recognize their strengths, grow their confidence, and see themselves as capable leaders within their schools, families, and communities.
