Because You're Mine, I Shop the Line

Because You're Mine, I Shop the Line Because You're Mine, I Shop the Line is a shop local program developed by the Brookline Chamber of Commerce. Shop Local, Support Brookline!

This program is supported through a grant from Pittsburgh's URA's Biz Buzz program. Biz Buzz provides communities with small grants to help fund programs that generate a "buzz" about the business district. Additional support is also provided by the Brookline Chamber of Commerce.

On the morning of Saturday, August 13th, 2016, Brookline Boulevard will be closed to traffic as hundreds of athletes will take part in the 35th Annual Brookline Breeze 5K Run and Fitness Walk. Citiparks, the City of Pittsburgh’s Department of Parks and Recreation, and the Brookline Breeze Committee host this 5K run and walk. Following completion of the race, Brookline Boulevard will remain closed to traffic between Stebbins and Glenarm Avenues for the Brookline Breezefest.

The Breezefest is a street festival where our business district will play host to a food truck round up, children’s activities, a stage with live music, and arts and crafts vendors. The sidewalks on Brookline Boulevard will be lined with vendors of arts, crafts, food, entertainment, and a variety of other displays. Admission to the Breezefest is free. Several of our local businesses will also have specials for the day.

The Breezefest is hosted by the volunteers of the South Pittsburgh Development Corporation (SPDC) and the Brookline Chamber of Commerce (BCC) and it could not be possible without the contributions of our other generous sponsors: Farmers Insurance, Rohrich Chevrolet, Brookline Area Community Council, and Community Bank.

This program is one initiative of the Brookline Chamber of Commerce that promotes "shopping local". We want to thank everyone that spent then time and money on Brookline Blvd through this holiday season.

Upcoming events: The Brookline Chamber of Commerce will be holding our NEXT THREE meetings discussing what the community can do to support the businesses during the Blvd renovation project starting in March. The sidewalks and roadway will be replaced entirely with the addition of trees and such. It'll be beautiful. But as for the businesses on the Blvd, this will be a difficult time. Next Monday's meeting will be with all business owners at St Marks Lutheran Church with the URA and the city of Pittsburgh support staff to see what they can do to help create a plan. Then our FEB meeting will be open to community members to help us frame a marketing plan. (come give us your ideas, we rely on them) Then our MARCH meeting will be to finalize the programs and plans necessary to ensure we make all efforts to keep businesses in business throughout the 8 month construction period.

Again, thank you for shopping Brookline Blvd and we hope to see you soon.
