Thanks to all the ACLC affiliates and members who generously supported our AFGE brothers and sisters working for TSA.

President John Galuska is presenting AFGE Representative Lilas Soukup with over $10,000 in donations.

The TSA workers have only received partial paychecks, so the need is still urgent to help them after the devastating government shutdown.

Our President John Galuska’s statement on the sale of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette:

“The Pittsburgh Post-Gazette is one of the oldest newspapers in America, and our Labor Council is glad that it will remain a part of this community. We will not miss the Blocks, but losing the Post-Gazette would have been devastating for this entire community, as well as for the men and women who work there. Post-Gazette employees have proven that they know how to produce and deliver a world-class newspaper, and we hope that the new owners will treat them with the fairness and respect that they deserve. We’re excited to welcome the new owners to Pittsburgh, we look forward to working together, and we hope that they will become a real, lasting part of this proud Pittsburgh community.”

MORE GOOD NEWS TONIGHT: After two days of nonstop negotiations, we are proud to report that our Teamsters brothers and sisters from the Duquesne University police and security force have just signed a tentative agreement with the University.

Thank you to all the union members and elected officials who stood by our side and showed such unbreakable solidarity. Thank you to Duquesne University for negotiating in good faith, and a special shout-out to Senator Jay Costa for working so hard to keep both sides at the table until they reached a deal.

Finally, congratulations to the entire Teamsters Local 249 team for conducting one of the most professional negotiating efforts we’ve ever seen. Proud to support you and help prove that Pittsburgh is and will always be a union town!

Our Labor Council members are out on the picket line standing in solidarity with our brothers and sisters on the Duquesne University police and security force.

We’ll be out here as long as it takes to ensure that the people who protect our students and our city get the pay and benefits they deserve. One day longer, one day stronger.
