Annual Gathering Highlight: Spoken Poetry with TC Tolbert

Poetry has the power to help us see one another—and our shared humanity—in new ways.

At this year’s AFN Annual Gathering, we are honored to welcome acclaimed Tucson poet TC Tolbert for a special spoken poetry offering woven into our morning together.

TC is an award-winning poet, educator, author, and former Tucson Poet Laureate whose work has been recognized nationally, including through an Academy of American Poets Laureate Fellowship. TC’s poetry and community work invite people into deeper reflection on identity, belonging, connection, and the many ways we encounter one another across difference.

It will be one of several meaningful experiences throughout this year’s gathering as we explore From Conflict to Community: Building Courageous Unity in a Time of Division.

Join TC, keynote speaker Rev. Dr. Gary Mason, and faith and community leaders from across Arizona on Tuesday, October 20.

Tucson Clergy & Faith Leader Alert

If you plan to attend tonight's Community Candlelight Vigil honoring Vincent Anthony Siqueiros and Cameron Davis Capara, who were killed in the recent shooting at Venture-N, you are invited to stand together near the stage as a visible, interfaith presence of solidarity and support for Vincent and Cameron, their loved ones, the Venture-N community, and Tucson’s LGBTQ+ community and allies.

Faith leaders are encouraged to wear clergy or religious attire appropriate to their tradition, if desired, but it is not required. The primary request is simply to show up and stand together as our community grieves, remembers, and supports one another.

The Tucson Police Department will have a security presence at the vigil and surrounding area.

The America Gives Council has invited communities across our nation to commemorate America’s 250th anniversary, making 2026 a historic opportunity to come together in what is being called the largest year of service in U.S. history.

The Arizona Interfaith Movement (AZIFM) invites you to an Interfaith America250 9/11 Day of Service, which will feature numerous hands-on service projects benefiting local nonprofits, along with a children’s service area with face painting, live entertainment, and a community nacho bar hosted by Councilmember Jenn Duff.

Power Back: A Movement School for Election Defense

From August to October, GenVote and our allies are kicking off our national election protection program with the first national youth-led Election Defense Movement School. From schools, places of faith, rural counties, and cities across the country, we’ll invite young people and community members of all ages to join the growing election defense movement, bringing a bold new generation of organizers into the fight for free, fair elections and a just democracy for all.

Interfaith Conversation on Domestic Violence and Elder Abuse
Tuesday, September 1, from 12:00–1:00 p.m. (AZ time) on Zoom

Enjoy your lunch as you learn from the presenters of Safe Havens, an interfaith partnership against elder abuse.

Join Arizona Faith Network for a one-hour Lunch & Learn exploring how faith communities can recognize, respond to, and prevent elder abuse, particularly among marginalized populations. Presenters from the Safe Havens interfaith partnership will share insights into the unique challenges faced by older survivors in immigrant, LGBTQ+, Indigenous, and communities of color, and offer practical guidance for clergy, lay leaders, and congregations.

Participants will learn how faith leaders can serve as compassionate listeners and trusted referral sources, helping connect vulnerable elders with appropriate support and resources. Bring your lunch and join us for this important conversation on creating safer, more supportive communities for older adults.
