Saving Amy, Inc.

Saving Amy, Inc. Phoenix nonprofit: Ending homelessness cycle with holistic family support. 🏡 WHO IS AMY? We are all Amy. Her partner was in prison. Amy had hit rock bottom.

Each one of us is in need of acceptance and the promise of hope. Saving Amy was created to fill the gap for those who need second, third and fourth chances in life. Individuals with “strikes against them”; felonies, addictions, poverty…

Amy, a single mother of four, found herself in a homeless shelter with two of her children. The oldest son was living in a group home and her youngest under the c

are of an aunt in the child protective services system. Drugs and alcohol were her way of coping with an abusive childhood. Amy met volunteer Jennifer Kiernan, founder of Saving Amy. She continued to meet with Jennifer and over time she began to believe that the dream of a new life was also for her and her children. Amy began to see herself as deserving. Amy was connected with a Saving Amy Journey Partner when she left the shelter; someone to walk alongside and connect to resources, provide encouragement and support. Amy became employed and started to feel more confident. Amy participated in the Saving Amy Rise Up Moving Program, which provided her with assistance with household goods, furniture, and move-in costs. Amy’s house became a home. She and her family moved into a better neighborhood with A+ schools. Life started to change for the positive. Amy regularly attends therapy through the Empowerment Through Therapy Program offered by Saving Amy. Therapy has been life-changing for Amy to work through her past trauma. Therapy is necessary for inner transformation to occur and for out-ward life changes to happen. Today, Amy is working, reunited with all of her children, and is living on her own. Her daughter is working and living on her own. Her son is a senior in high school with straight A's and is looking forward to attending college. Amy’s youngest is a carefree 13 year-old.

Oh, The Places They Will Go!
A heartfelt farewell to our incredible Saving Amy
2025/2026 Interns! We are so proud of these exceptional students from Brophy College Preparatory who have dedicated their time and talents to our mission.

Asher Gomez – Southern Methodist University
Rudain Khoury – University of Notre Dame
David Lopez-Ontiveros – Arizona State University, Barrett Honors College
Andrew Montz – University of Washington
Cristian Porras – Arizona State University, Barrett Honors College
Tanner Toppel – University of Arizona
Carter Weyrauch – George Washington University

These seven remarkable students truly embodied the spirit of service. They hit the ground running, leading orientations for new families, shopping for family move-ins, and ensuring our holiday programs ran smoothly by delivering turkeys, gifts, and shoes. They were always ready to lend a hand, handling countless errands and making sure every task was completed with precision and care.
Beyond logistics, they made a profound personal impact.
They mentored Saving Amy kids, picking them up for tutoring sessions and genuinely enriching their lives. Their leadership shined brightly at our Phoenix Suns event, and no task was too big or small. They consistently went above and beyond, tackling every challenge with love and willing hearts.
At Saving Amy, we live by the quote, "Leave it better than you found it" (Robert Baden-Powell). Our interns didn't just meet this standard; they soared past it.
We'll miss you dearly, and we can't wait to see the incredible things you'll achieve.
Farewell!

Thank you, Valley Toyota Dealers!
For many families we serve, transportation is one of the biggest barriers to stability.
Amanda knows that firsthand. For months, she woke up at 4 AM to take multiple buses to work, doing whatever it took to provide for her family.
Today, because of our incredible new partnership with Valley Toyota Dealers, Amanda has a dependable vehicle big enough for her family and a fresh start filled with new possibilities.
A reliable car in Phoenix means more than getting from point A to point B.
It means time saved.
Stress relieved.
Opportunities opened.
And dignity restored.
We are honored to walk alongside families like Amanda’s and grateful for partners who help make transformation possible!
