For nearly 50 years, the Arizona Community Foundation has worked to improve the quality of life in Arizona by promoting and facilitating effective philanthropy. The road to Arizona’s Environmental Convening continues!
ACF recently brought together members of the AEC Leadership Council for a conversation centered on collaboration, progress, and the work still ahead as we build toward December. From ACF’s long-term vision to opportunities for collective impact, the meeting reinforced what’s possible when leaders from across sectors come together around solutions for Arizona.

We were excited to welcome City of Phoenix Mayor Kate Gallego and other partners helping move this work forward. Together with the City of Phoenix, Arizona State University, and Desert Botanical Garden, ACF is preparing for Arizona’s Environmental Convening, an action-oriented gathering focused on extreme heat resilience and scalable solutions.

December 2–3 is getting closer. We’re building momentum, strengthening partnerships, and getting ready to bring this work to an even bigger stage in downtown Phoenix.

Happy DAF Day! Today, we're joining a nationwide celebration of generosity and the incredible impact of donor-advised funds (DAFs)! DAF Day brings together donors, nonprofits, and charitable giving partners to inspire more giving and help make a difference in communities across the country.

At the Arizona Community Foundation, we believe that when people come together around the causes they care about, amazing things happen. From supporting local nonprofits to investing in the future of our communities, donor-advised funds help turn charitable intentions into meaningful action.

Since joining ACF in 2022, Lorenzo has helped shape our education strategy and strengthen partnerships focused on early childhood literacy, postsecondary education, scholarships, and building a sustainable teacher workforce across Arizona.

In his new role, he’ll continue leading our education work while expanding his focus across ACF’s broader community engagement and impact efforts.

Please join us in congratulating Taylor Pineda on her well-earned promotion to Chief Community Impact Officer! Taylor officially joins ACF’s Executive Leadership Team, where she will continue leading a talented team focused on creating meaningful impact in education, affordable housing, the environment, grantmaking, and nonprofit engagement.

Taylor has had great success at ACF thanks to her stellar Community Impact team and a strong strategy focused on ACF’s core strategic focus areas, such as our new education strategy, to drive transformational philanthropic work in the community. What can we learn when we spend more time listening to the people strengthening our communities?

Quite a bit.

Yesterday, ACF President & CEO Anna María Chávez visited three West Valley nonprofits doing important work across Arizona.

At Gompers, the conversation focused on equality and independence for people with disabilities. At Glencroft Center for Modern Aging, we explored innovative approaches to aging and intergenerational connections. And at YWCA Metropolitan Phoenix, we learned more about the organization's longstanding commitment to empowering women and supporting families.

Although their missions are different, many of the challenges they face are interconnected.

These conversations remind us that understanding community needs starts with listening, building relationships and identifying opportunities to work together.

Thank you to all three organizations for opening their doors and sharing their perspectives!

Yesterday, students, parents, and 100 Club of Arizona CEO Melissa Kowalski visited the ACF Staff Meeting to share firsthand what scholarships can make possible.

During this Scholarship Mission Moment, we heard how educational support can give students more freedom to focus on school, pursue future opportunities, and ease some of the financial pressure their families carry along the way.

We’re grateful to the 100 Club of Arizona and to each student and parent who shared their story with us.
