✨ Don't miss your chance to join our AZ Youth Ambassador Program for the 2026-2027 school year! ✨

Kids and teens in 1st-12th grade who have been diagnosed with type 1 diabetes (T1D) for at least a year are invited to apply for our Youth Ambassador program. As a Youth Ambassador, you will have the opportunity to share your story, advocate for the T1D community, and help drive us toward T1D breakthroughs.

"I've now been living with T1D for over 32 years, and it's woven into every part of my life, as a CEO running a 140-person company, as a competitive endurance athlete who has run marathons on five continents, and as a father of two boys who watches this disease with a different kind of urgency now."

Chris raised over $1 million for T1D research since his diagnosis, and he continues to fundraise because he believes in the research Breakthrough T1D is funding. Chris began running with our Desert West team during the 2022 Boston Marathon and has been unstoppable since.

Join Breakthrough T1D Run as we take on Abbott World Marathon Majors in Sydney, Boston, Berlin, Chicago, New York City, London, Cape Town, and Chris's marathon of choice - Tokyo!

“This isn’t a bad night. This is a Tuesday.”

For the Jackman family, life with type 1 diabetes (T1D) means constant decisions, interrupted nights, and an urgent hope for a cure.

Their daughter Harper was diagnosed with T1D at 11 years old. Today, she is a competitive cheerleader, a straight-A student, and someone who dreams of helping end T1D for herself and for everyone living with it.

Breakthrough T1D Youth Ambassadors share their stories, meet other kids and teens living with type 1 diabetes (T1D), volunteer at events, and help others better understand life with T1D.

It’s a chance to build confidence, make friends, and be part of something meaningful during the 2026-27 school year!
