We went a few months ago. It was an amazing experience. The entire staff was so accommodating, patient and kind. We never waited more than 10 minutes for a ride. IBCCES was wonderful to get set up with. Highly recommend!

Most theme parks are a sensory assault by design. Crowds, queues, sirens, strobes, characters appearing out of nowhere. For a lot of autistic kids, the day ends in a meltdown before it’s really begun.

Universal’s new park for young children was built differently.

The resort, designed for kids roughly ages 3 to 8, has been named a Certified Autism Center. Staff completed autism and sensory training, and families can check sensory details ahead of time so they know what’s coming: which attractions are loud, which are dark, where the calm spaces are.

That last part matters more than it sounds. Half the stress of a day out isn’t the noise. It’s not knowing. When a parent can plan the day in advance, the whole thing becomes possible.

Seven lands, built small and gentle on purpose, and certified before most families ever walk through the gate.

Not retrofitted years later after enough people complained. Designed this way from the start.

That’s the shift worth noticing.

Growth doesn't always look big. With the right nurturing, even a small acorn can grow into a mighty oak. That belief is at the heart of everything we do at ALL, including our future independent living community, Oak Tree Ranch. This week's Inclusion Tip: celebrate progress, not just milestones. Every step forward matters. πŸŒ³πŸ’™

Today, on National Disability Independence Day, we celebrate the signing of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), a landmark civil rights law that opened doors to greater accessibility, opportunity, and inclusion for millions of Americans with disabilities.

But this day is about more than celebrating history. It's also a reminder that the work isn't finished.

At Autism Life and Living, we believe independence looks different for every person. For some, it means building friendships. For others, it's learning life skills, finding meaningful employment, advocating for accommodations, or simply being accepted for who they are.

True independence doesn't mean doing everything alone. It means having access to the supports, opportunities, and inclusive communities that allow every person to thrive.

This National Disability Independence Day, let's continue creating communities where autistic individuals and people with disabilities are respected, valued, and empowered to live life on their own terms.

Together, we can build a future where inclusion isn't the exception, it's the expectation.
