District Council 33 Mother’s Day Message

District Council 33 proudly honors Mother’s Day and the incredible women who hold our families and our city together. Today we celebrate the mothers, grandmothers, guardians and mother figures who give strength, love and guidance every single day.

Across our union, mothers show what true dedication looks like. They care for their families, serve Philadelphia with pride and carry responsibilities that often go unseen. Their leadership shapes our homes, our workplaces and our communities.

We honor the mothers who are working today to keep the city running. We honor the mothers who are resting and enjoying well deserved time with loved ones. We honor the mothers we miss whose lessons continue to guide us. And we honor every member who steps into the role of nurturer and protector in any form.

Your love is powerful. Your sacrifices matter. Your impact is felt in every corner of this city.

To all the mothers and mother figures in our District Council 33 family, thank you for everything you give. We wish you a peaceful and meaningful Mother’s Day.

MAY DAY: WORKERS OVER BILLIONAIRES RALLY
Friday, May 1, 2026 • 4:00 PM
Philadelphia City Hall • 1400 JFK Blvd

DC33 members are called to the front lines this May Day. Join us as we demand a city and an economy that put workers first. The Workers Over Billionaires movement is about ending the imbalance that leaves the people who keep Philadelphia running fighting for basic fairness while billionaires collect record profits.

For union members, this fight is not symbolic. It’s about wages that keep up with the cost of living, safe staffing, real job security, and respect for the work we do every day. When workers stand together, we shift the balance of power.

Show up. Stand strong. Make it clear that Philadelphia’s workforce will not be ignored.

Behind every siren in Philadelphia is a dispatcher whose dedication never wavers.

The recent building collapse tragedy showed the world what we already know: our police and fire telecommunicators are unmatched in their diligence. They stayed composed, coordinated resources in seconds, and supported both callers and responders through one of the city’s toughest moments.

Their work is unseen, but its impact is undeniable.

This week, we celebrate the heroes on the other end of the line. Thank you for your service, your strength, and your unwavering commitment to our city.
