UPS goes after everyone that files grievances, but members who file 9.5 grievances, they really dig deep to go after them. At our 1st UPS contract proposal meeting we came up with 2 solutions to help our package car members deal with excessive over time and constant 9.5 violations. We talk about the 1st solution in this video. Package Car drivers should not have to file grievances for 9.5 violations. In our proposal they should be automatically paid out, just like overtime. A package car member should still sign up to be on the list and after their 9.5 rights have been violated, they should be paid out automatically without having to file a grievance. This would eliminate the need to file a grievance. Make sure to attend our September 27th meeting to hear about all of our proposals we have so far.

All companies are the same. Delay, deny and discourage. Ambulnz is no different than any other employer. Our Ambulnz members are standing up and fighting back. We are not begging, we are demanding!

August 1st 2028 will be here before you know it. UPS has gotten worse. They will never change unless the members forced them to change. Jane McAlevey would say, "workers win by creating a crisis" that's what will have to do.

This week is 623 day. Its a day of preparation and celebration. This 623 day we will be at the gates giving out contract surveys for our 2028 UPS contract negotiations. This UPS contract negotiation cycle will be like no other before it. That is why we are preparing early. We will have our 1st Contract meeting July 12th at 1 pm, in person and on zoom.

We know whats important to us, we want to know whats important to you. The grievance procedure needs an overhaul. The company delays the grievance process on purpose and for a purpose. That purpose is so members get frustrated and wont hold them accountable. They have become better at delaying the grievances than delivering packages.
We need more teeth around 9.5 violations and protections against AI and automation. The retaliation and harassment is at an all time high, we need stronger language that protects our members and their families. Companies should think twice before retaliating against a union member, but UPS does not.
Roadie and other subsidiary companies that UPS owns is taking our work, harming the future of our families.

Be on the lookout for the summer edition of the Teamsters 623 newsletter.

We have been extremely busy here at Teamsters Local 623. We organized over 200 new workers and at the same time negotiated higher wages, more paid time off and stronger protections for another one of our groups. It is our utmost pleasure to serve our members. Our next general membership meeting is Sunday, May 31st at 11am. We are excited to welcome our new members. We also look to celebrate with our members who won a new contract.

Yesterday, Over 200 paratransit drivers, emergency medical technicians, and paramedics workers voted to join Teamsters Local 623. These workers withstood a very nasty union busting campaign by their employer. These workers stood together and fought back. Welcome to Teamsters Local 623. We are eagerly waiting to serve you.
