“Penn staff should be able to afford basic necessities and not have to yell and scream for a living wage” says Gabrielle in Penn Libraries. Thousands of Penn staff go without fair pay as it lavishes $50 million/year on just 20 executives at the very top. Workers The Penn Libraries Penn Dining are saying ENOUGH. Fair pay now! Many, many thanks to PA House Rep. Tarik Khan Rep Tarik Khan for showing up for Penn workers and reminding us that our fight is one front in the bigger war on working people here in America. Penn, it’s time to treat your workers with respect. Stop shaving “precautionary” savings off the already low incomes of your staff when we know there is plenty of money still flowing around elsewhere

Another enormous thank you to PA House Representative Ben Waxman Rep Ben Waxman for having our backs AND for reminding us that we’re not just fighting for us, we’re fighting to set better standards for all of the working people of Philadelphia

We love Philadelphia Councilmember Jamie Gauthier Councilmember Jamie Gauthier, who not only always shows up for us, but does it with passion and STYLE. Thank you Councilmember Gauthier for showing your support for Penn Dining and Libraries workers—you’re right, we shouldn’t have to BEG one of the wealthiest institutions in the country for the bare minimum!

A huge thank you to Philadelphia Councilmember Nina Ahmad Councilmember Nina Ahmad (At-Large) for showing up to support Locals 54 and 590, Penn Dining and Penn Libraries staff, in their fight for a JUST contract. We want a contract that keeps our members physically and mentally healthy and ready to show up for our important work serving the University community

Marvin from Penn Libraries Circulation doesn’t want overtime cuts that amount to significant pay reductions. What he DOES want is wages that at least keep up with inflation! Support Penn Libraries and Dining staff by signing our petition at

🔥 New AFSCME Pres. Patrick Moran delivered a rousing first speech to close out the AFSCME convention.

For 90 years, our union has been how we fight for the respect and dignity we deserve. That fight is ours to carry together, and the next 90 years starts now.

Archivist Andrew is proud to support our union’s fight for a fair contract that compensates staff appropriately for their dedicated service to the University, its mission, and its institutional memory.

Rich and his fellow Penn employees at The Penn Libraries and Penn Dining are just looking for a fair contract and wages that can catch up with inflation. We see how much money the University spends on furniture, parties, and other window dressings—why not invest in the employees who actually help it achieve its mission?
