Visiting Frantoio Clerici!

Today, half of our students traveled to a typical Umbrian farm that produces its own olive oil, spelt, legumes, and wine. They learned about the olive oil production process, what makes Umbrian olive oil unique, and they sampled the farm’s products. What a wonderful experience!

✨ Introducing our 2026 Vittorini Award recipient Rose Marone! ✨

“My name is Rose Marone, and I am an undergraduate student at the University of Pennsylvania. This fall, I am traveling to study at the University of Bologna on an Italian language track. I am grateful for the guidance of the Italian department at Penn and for the opportunity to represent Penn as this year’s Vittorini recipient.

Learning Italian has positively shaped my Penn experience. I look forward to immersing myself in Italian culture and enhancing my language skills in a real-world setting. I am excited to embrace all the challenges that come with studying abroad and — as I am an avid reader and writer — share my experiences with those at home.”

This morning we had the pleasure of hosting the Italian students from Delsea Regional High School for an engaging cultural exchange🇮🇹🇺🇸

Together, we discussed the differences between American and Italian teenage lifestyles and educational systems 📚🎓🏫

To make the experience even more special, three students joined us live from Italy to share their perspectives, experiences, and everyday life.

It was a great opportunity for everyone to exchange ideas and connect across cultures! 🌎📚✨

Day 5 and the final day of La Settimana Italiana🇮🇹

After our Italian lessons this morning, we spent the afternoon at Gran Caffè L’Aquila for an amazing tour discovering different types of coffee and roasting techniques ☕️
We then treated ourselves to their delicious gelato🍨

What a special week this has been — full of learning, sharing, laughter, and unforgettable moments. We challenged ourselves, met wonderful people, and created memories that we will never forget✨

We can’t wait to do it all again soon… Stay tuned!

Day 4 of La Settimana Italiana!🇮🇹
After our morning Italian classes, we had the incredible opportunity to visit the Free Library of Philadelphia and explore its Rare Italian Book Collection. Focusing on Illuminated Manuscripts, the tour offered a closer look at the craftsmanship, detail, and history behind these extraordinary works.
