The Weathersfield Food Shelf will hold a food drive at Market Basket, Claremont, NH, on Saturday, November 1, from 9 to 3 p.m. We will be handing out a grocery list, including a holiday list of Thanksgiving items.

With the holiday season approaching, the Food Shelf would like to gather as many food items as possible to help supplement our grocery shelves. We accept donations of unexpired, non-perishable, boxed, bottled, or canned foods.

If you can’t stop by Market Basket on Saturday, November 1, you can drop off your donations at the Food Shelf during our regular business hours on the second and fourth Thursdays from 2 to 4 p.m.

As the holiday season begins, the Weathersfield Food Shelf Board of Directors and volunteers thank everyone who has made monetary and in-kind donations to our cause this past year.

Most recently, our supporters have donated their excess garden crops, including peaches, apples, squash, and peppers. Gifts of luscious heirloom tomatoes looked almost too beautiful to eat (almost…). Another donation of several pumpkins, in various sizes and varieties, lined our walkway and welcomed all to the facility. The pumpkins quickly found new homes. And meat purchased from local farms is always a favorite.

The Food Shelf is open to Weathersfield residents from 2:00 pm-4:00 pm on the 2nd and 4th Thursdays of each month (with some adjustments made for the holidays). We are located in the old Perkinsville schoolhouse and have a mailing address of PO Box 69, Ascutney, 05030. The facility is staffed 100% by volunteers, and 95% of funds raised go toward purchasing food.

We thank you again for your kindness and caring for our neighbors in need.

The Weathersfield Food Shelf is open on Thursday, September 25th. The shelves feature a variety of food items, including dry goods, vegetables, dairy products, and pantry staples.

Regular business hours are from 2 to 4 p.m.; alternative food options can be arranged for visitors who are unable to visit during these hours.
