Wow! The post about the Shelter closing for the Season had 120 shares so far which is the exact number of volunteers needed to run the shelter and have everyone fill a six hour shift every month during the season.

We are grateful for the continuing support of our community. We are keeping a list of volunteers to help staff our shelter next year. If you are truly interested in helping, send a private message to this page with your email/phone number and we will add you to our volunteer list and when the time comes schedule you for orientation.

The Springfield Warming Shelter will not be operating during the 2020-2021 winter season due to the Corona Virus restrictions and concerns for our shelter guests and volunteers in our close quarters. Please check with VT 211 for other shelter options during this winter. Thanks to all the shelter volunteers who have kept the shelter operating for the past 6 winters.

The Springfield Warming Shelter will be closed for the rest of the season effective Sunday, March 14. The Shelter does not have the ability to meet the CDC recommendations for social distancing to ensure the ongoing safety/health of our Volunteers and Guests. Should anyone need housing assistance please contact Vermont 2-1-1.

The Springfield Warming Shelter continues to recruit Volunteers. We have a special need for both shifts on Sundays and Wednesdays. Shifts are from 630pm until 1230am and 1230am until 630am. If those days don’t work, there are other shifts available. Orientation is provided contact us for additional information.

The Springfield Warming Shelter continues to provide our guests a warm, safe place to sleep. But it takes many volunteers to keep our Shelter operating through the warming season. Volunteers are needed for both shifts, however there is a special need for volunteers to cover the 1230am to 630am shifts. Thursdays, Fridays and Sundays seem to be of special concern. Ask how you can help. Orientation is provided.

Brrr! It is very cold outside! Thank you to our Volunteers that cover our shifts to ensure anyone who needs a warm, safe place to sleep has one. Shifts needing coverage this week:
