David Alvin Bryant Sr., 88, of West Palm Beach, Florida and formerly of Springfield, Vermont passed away peacefully August 13, 2026.
He was born August 26, 1937 in Springfield, Vermont, the son of Oscar and Margurite (Kingsbury) Bryant. David graduated Black River High School in Ludlow, Vermont and later went on to serve in the United States Air Force. He married is his first sweetheart Evalyn and shared many wonderful years with her until her passing.
David worked for Essem Meats for many years. He was known as Davey Essem or Hot Dog Dave. He was an outgoing salesman at heart. He loved talking with people and making friends with everyone.
He was an active member of the United Methodist Church in Springfield, Vermont where he raised his 3 children, and attended services weekly with his family before moving to West Palm Beach, Florida. He is a member of Community of Hope Church in Greenacres, Florida. He very much enjoyed his church families and especially the fellowship that was shared.
David loved cooking for his family after Sunday Sauna's, a tradition for the Finnish family he married into. Friends and family were invited for a steam bath and a meal afterwards. He always said, if you go away hungry, it's your own fault. Cooking was a big part of his life and his contribution to many fundraising events.
He was a hard working man that provided for his family. David was a Lifetime member of the Loyal Order of Moose, Benevolent Order of Elks, and the American Legion. David will be greatly missed by all that knew him.
He leaves to cherish his loving memory, his wife Vickie Bryant of West Palm Beach, Fl, 3 children, Janet Bryant Allison of Perkinsville, VT, David A. (Becky Robarge) Bryant Jr. of Springfield, VT, and Peter Bryant of Springfield, VT, 1 brother Glenn (Eydie) Bryant of Barton, VT. 5 grandchildren, Saima Rose (Ryan) Cassell, Grace Ellen Cassell, David A. (Maia Padberg) Bryant III, Brandon (Samantha MacQuarrie) Bryant, and Adam Bryant, as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was predeceased by his loving wife Evalyn Rose Johnson Bryant. their infant twin son Arthur Peter Bryant, his parents, Oscar and Margurite Bryant, 2 sisters, Edris Bonneau, Ethelyn Dever, 2 brothers, Stanley Bryant, and Roy Bryant.
Visitation will be on Friday, August 21, 2026 at the Springfield United Methodist Church, 10 Valley Street, Springfield, Vermont from 11-12 PM with funeral service beginning at 12:00 at the Springfield United Methodist Church. Burial will immediately follow at Pleasantview Cemetery in Ludlow, Vermont.
