A big thank you to the Mid-Bay Bridge Rotary Club for inviting District Executive, Josie Wondracek, and Board President, Vince Mayfield, to give some updates on Scouting in the Choctaw District of the Gulf Coast Council, Scouting America.

The Rotarians also made a $500 donation to the Council and donated $50 in the Gulf Coast Council's name toward the Polio Plus Fund!

Moments like this are why Scouting matters.

Troops 340B and 340G showed up for the Post’s Memorial Day commemoration and flag retirement, rain or shine. Scouts doing Scout stuff, serving others and honoring those who served.

Thanks to Rick Walker for the photos!

Huge congratulations to Reagan Cornish for turning compassion into action!

As part of her Eagle Scout project, Reagan led volunteers at the Fresh Start for Children and Families campus in Fort Walton Beach to create improvements that will be felt for years: a butterfly garden featuring native plants suited to our local sandy soil and climate, a 100-gallon water barrel to help sustain the space, and a new fence around exposed AC units near the playground and community center. That fence opens up the outdoor area for families to use and enjoy again!

Fresh Start provides transitional and affordable housing and support for families working hard to get back on their feet. Reagan’s project helps make the campus even more welcoming, safe, and usable for the people who call it home.

We love seeing young leaders invest in their community like this.

Big thanks to everyone at Get The Coast for sharing this amazing story! Congratulations to our Scouts and adult leaders on completing Wilderness First Aid training at Spanish Trail Scout Reservation! You each stepped up to learn the skills that matter most when adventure takes us beyond easy access to help, including how to respond calmly and confidently in remote emergencies.

Having multiple leaders certified in Wilderness First Aid and CPR is a big win for every high-adventure crew. It means better preparation, smarter decision-making, and a safer experience for every member on the trail. Well done, and thank you for helping keep our adventures safe!

It's incredible to see these snippets of history.

Gulf Coast Council departure photo on the way to the 1973 National Scout Jamboree. This was the time when the BSA split a Jamboree, holding it at two sites simultaneously. The West version was in Idaho at Farragut State Park. The East version was at Moraine State Park in Pennsylvania. Scouts would later refer to it as “More Rain” state park because of the weather.

Congratulations to Sebastian from Troop 003 on completing his Eagle Scout service project!

For his Eagle Project, Sebastian built eight 16-foot amphitheater benches that will benefit Stillwater’s Christian Retreat, creating a welcoming, durable space for gatherings and events.

Projects like this leave a lasting impact by bringing people together and improving the places where communities connect. Thank you, Sebastian, for putting Scout values into action through service!

Congratulations to Stephen from Unit 451 on completing his Eagle Scout service project!

He built a Staging Area that provides shade and shelter while horses are being prepped for the ride, a thoughtful improvement that will make a real difference for everyone who uses the area.

Projects like this do more than improve a single space, they strengthen the whole community by making local programs safer, more comfortable, and more welcoming for everyone who uses them. Thanks for putting Scout values into action through service!
