Big goals, teamwork, and planning for the future!

Last Friday our Gulf Winds Credit Union Bigs met with their Littles, seniors at Pensacola High School, for a Beyond School Walls session focused on preparing for life after graduation.

They started the day catching up and playing a fun dice game. The Littles then heard from Angelica Coonts from Pensacola State College who walked them through the FAFSA application process and answered their questions. Afterward, Bigs helped their Littles complete those applications and explore scholarship opportunities.

These sessions give students valuable guidance as they take their next steps.

🍂 Building relationships and planning for the future!

Last week, our D.R. Horton Northwest Florida Bigs met with their Littles, seniors at Washington High School, for a Beyond School Walls session that combined goal setting, postsecondary planning, and a little fall fun!

The day started with breakfast and one-on-one check-ins before a friendly fall-themed cookie decorating competition.

Students then learned about financial aid, FAFSA requirements, and important deadlines during an informational session led by Suzanne Wilks from the University of West Florida. With their Bigs by their side, students worked on completing the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) and exploring scholarship opportunities.

These sessions give Bigs and Littles valuable time together while helping students take meaningful steps toward their future.

Meet Big Sister Wendy and her new Little Brother, Kane!

Kane is a sweet, active kindergartner with a big imagination and plenty of stories to tell. During their first meeting, Wendy had a front-row seat to all of them! Now, Kane is excited to have a Big Sister who can visit him at school, share lunch with him and spend time together each week.

Wendy and Kane have already set two goals: improving Kane’s reading and working on his workout skills. Wendy also happens to be our administrative assistant, and this is her first time serving as a Big Sister!

Through our site-based mentoring program, Bigs spend just one hour a week with their Littles, often during their lunch breaks. It’s a small commitment that can make a BIG impact on a child’s life.

Happy 17th Work Anniversary, Leanne! 🎉

Today we’re celebrating Leanne Gaudet, our Area Manager for Bay County, and the incredible impact she has made over the past 17 years!

Leanne is truly a vital part of our team. From creating and supporting matches and recruiting Bigs to speaking engagements, board meetings, special events and so much more, she is pretty much everywhere, sharing our mission and connecting people to the power of mentoring.

Most importantly, Leanne has a genuine heart for our Bigs, Littles and families. She cares deeply about the youth in our community, and it shows in everything she does. We’re so lucky to have you on our team, Leanne! Congratulations on 17 years!
