We are thrilled to welcome our newest Keeping Abreast Foundation Board Directors: Melanie Schopp, Samantha Davis, Traci Clancy, Laura Worthylake, and Leslie Lancaster!

Each of these incredible women brings compassion, experience, and a deep commitment to supporting those affected by breast cancer. Their stories include survivorship, healthcare service, advocacy, education, and personal connections to the breast cancer journey.

Melanie Schopp shared that joining the board is both an honor and deeply personal. As a cancer survivor, she understands firsthand the power of compassion, hope, and community throughout a cancer journey. Melanie looks forward to helping Keeping Abreast Foundation continue making a meaningful difference for those we serve.

Samantha Davis, a registered nurse serving our local community, is excited to support access to care for men and women facing uncertain and difficult seasons in their lives. She looks forward to collaborating with a board full of unique strengths and talents to further the foundation’s work.

Traci Clancy, an 18-year survivor living in Pensacola, is eager to give back by sharing her survivorship experience and helping the organization continue providing mammograms, support, and hope to others.

Laura Worthylake is honored to help enhance and further the organization’s mission and vision through awareness, education, and advocacy. She is passionate about removing barriers and providing support to those facing breast cancer.

Leslie Lancaster brings a personal connection to the cause, as breast cancer has affected her family. She is grateful to be affiliated with an organization that provides care, love, and support to patients and is looking forward to getting started.

Together, they will help us continue inspiring hope and enhancing life through early detection, advocacy, education, and support services. Please join us in welcoming Melanie, Samantha, Traci, Laura, and Leslie to the Board!

Early detection is "key"!

A mammogram is more than a screening. It is peace of mind. It is a chance to catch something early. It is a step that could make all the difference for you and the people who love you.

Through our relationship with the Keeping Abreast Foundation, Baldwin Health is proud to offer free mammograms for eligible women who may not otherwise have access to this important screening.

You may qualify if you:
• Are age 40 or older, or under 40 and at increased risk for breast cancer
• Live in Baldwin or Escambia County, Alabama, or Escambia or Santa Rosa County, Florida
• Have no insurance, limited coverage, or your insurance does not cover the full cost of a mammogram
• Meet income eligibility guidelines

Early detection saves lives, and help may be available.

Florida Breast and Cervical Cancer Program has a statewide partnership with Mammolink. The next bus stop for those in need of a mammogram and are not insured is next Wednesday, May 20th at Health and Hope Clinic in Escambia County.

Mammolink has a statewide contract with the Florida Department of Health. Today's stop on the tour was the city of Milton. Mammolink provides state of the art technology with timely reports on the diagnostic tests performed.

The Northwest Florida Cancer Control Collaborative was there in support too.

Let’s play ball! The Tate High School 16th Annual Strike Out Cancer Game was a HOME RUN! We are thankful to be selected a second time as a recipient of the proceeds raised and donations for the game. Baptist Health and Rally Gulf Coast were selected again too.

Coach Wyatt’s field presentation moved us and we learned since the 2010 inception of this annual game they have raised and donated over $250K in the fight against all cancers.

All hearts were touched for the annual field ceremony when cancer survivors are invited to the field to share their name and years of cancer survival and presented flowers by Lady Aggie’s Softball Team.
