Active Minds at UWF

Active Minds at UWF Active Minds is a national non-profit organization that promotes awareness and reduces the stigmatization surrounding mental health to prevent su***de.

We are a student organization and UWF's chapter of the national nonprofit organization Active Minds, which works to decrease the stigma surrounding mental illness and prevent su***de on college campuses. Active Minds, Inc. was founded in 2003, by Alison Malmon when her brother Brian died by su***de after struggling with mental illness in silence. Su***de is the 2nd leading cause of death on colleg

e campuses with 1,100 reported su***des annually, and an overall 39,000 su***des yearly in the US. Su***de can be prevented, but only if we continue the conversation about mental health. There are more than 400 Active Minds chapters across the country that continue to end the silence, shame, and stigma.
