Drawing upon a story attributed to Michelangelo—who saw his work as freeing the angel already hidden within the stone—Michael Moynihan invites us to look for the angels in other people, in difficult situations, and throughout the world around us.

How might we help set those angels free and allow them to make a difference?

A sermon for Michaelmas Evensong, preached by Michael Moynihan at Christ Church Pelham on September 27, 2026.

Christ Is Present Even in Suffering
Description:
Life can be extraordinarily hard. Saint Paul never tells us that suffering is good—but he assures us that Christ is present even in suffering. Because Christ is there, suffering does not have the final word. Our own experiences of hardship can form us to accompany, support, and love others through their darkest moments.
