Congratulations to Ian McCloskey ‘26 on getting invited to the United States Under 19 National Team Selection Camp!

McCloskey is one of only 26 athletes from around the US headed to the camp, hosted by USRowing in Chula Vista, California from June 22-July 31.

Those at the camp at the Chula Vista Elite Athlete Training Center will compete for a spot on the team that will represent the United States at the World Rowing U19 Championships in Plovdiv, Bulgaria from Aug. 1-9.

Ian has been an integral member of the Boys team beginning with his freshman year where he helped drive the 2v8 to a medal at NY States and then raced in the boat at Youth Nationals. From there, McCloskey has continually driven the standard of the team with his incredibly high work ethic and desire to compete at the top level of the sport. He has set our 2k record at 6:06 and our 5k record at 16:19.7 (1:37.9 avg split). Having competed in our Varsity 8 since sophomore year, Ian has helped the boat achieve Top 15 finishes at both Youth Nationals and the Head of the Charles. Now as a senior, he will be making his 3rd appearance at Youth Nationals and will be aiming to help the Varsity 8 achieve an outstanding result. After graduation, Ian will be attending Brown University where he will be an athlete on the Men’s team.

Finally, Ian joins Abe Eligator ‘20, Lindsey Brail ‘22 and Moose Harrison ‘22 as PCRA athletes who have been chosen over the last few years to compete at Selection Camp.

Captains Dinner 2026

Last night we held our annual Captains Dinner where we look back on the last years success, give out our Spring Season awards and honor the graduating Seniors.

The Class of 2026 is the biggest we’ve had in recent memory at 18 and they’ve all played a big role in putting the program in the position we find ourselves in today. Leaders on and off the water, this Senior class has defined what it means to be a part our team at PCRA through their commitment, dedication and willingness to consistently improve. Many will go on to compete in college and we can’t wait to see what they do at that level. A huge thank you goes out to these Seniors and know that PCRA will always be home for you.

Next up, our Parents Association continues to provide us the best support in too many ways to count and we are grateful for everything they do. Our food tent at regattas is unmatched and makes a huge difference. Thank you!

Congrats to this springs award winners:

Best In Boathouse - Emily Schumann

Most Improved - the Girls novice group

Spirit Award - Emilia Day

Best in Boathouse - Ian McCloskey

Most Improved - Javi Jacobs

Spirit Award - James Hamilton

Our two Brian Lilly Jr Envision Success award winners this year were Lorenzo Cohen and Juliet Hutton. Both serve their respective teams as Captains and set an incredible example through their work ethic and very positive demeanor.

Next up for us will be Youth Nationals in Sarasota where we will compete in the Men’s Youth 8, Men’s U17 8 and Women’s Youth 8!

Day 1 at New York States is in the books and it was a great day for the Girls team!

The Girls Novice 4+ took their race by storm, breaking open around 500m and never looking back on their way to a State Championship!! Huge congrats to those athletes on their standout performance today and for bringing a big victory back to Pelham!

Our Girls Varsity 8 left it all out there en route to a very tight 3rd place finish, less than a second off of 2nd. This now makes it 3 medals in the last 3 years for the team in the Varsity 8 at States. By way of their finish, the boat qualified to compete at Youth Nationals in Sarasota!

Day 2 tomorrow sees the Boys take to the water in pursuit of more team success!

We are in the last day of our Spring fundraiser and we have less than 25% to go to hit our Spring 2026 goal! Help us get across the finish line with a donation today. No donation is too small, and every donation helps!

The focus of our fundraising efforts this Spring is to purchase a new 8+ for our youth programs. We are joined in this endeavor by the Lilly family who recently established the Brian Lilly Jr. - Yeah Buddy Memorial Fund, a permanent fund at PCRA dedicated to the purchase of boats for our youth programs.

Help us make more top of the line boats a reality at PCRA! The 8+ being rowed in this video was purchased in 2021 in memory of Brian Lilly Jr. We are now aiming to continue his legacy at the club through a fund designed to purchase boats for the Youth Racing teams. Donate today to the Brian Lilly Jr Memorial Fund and help us make our goals a reality! Your support will go directly to the purchase of new 8s for the Girls and Boys teams. The link to donate is in our bio and linked on our story.

The Youth Racing teams had themselves a weekend at this year’s Saratoga Invite! After a big week of training following last weekends Mercer Sprints that saw our Boys 1v, Girls 1v and Boys 2v in the A final, the teams headed up north on 87 to Saratoga Springs. In prep for the New York State Championships, we raced 1500m on Saturday and Sunday against highly competitive teams from across the region. Our top 8s really showed up in their respective finals today, putting on great performances that brought home some hardware! Congrats to the following boats on their success today:

Boys U17 8 - 2nd 🥈

Girls 1V 8 - 2nd 🥈

Boys 1V 8 - 2nd 🥈

Boys 2V 8 - 2nd overall and fastest 2v in their event

We now head home and turn our attention to the next 2 weeks where we will be hard at work getting ready for New York States. GO PCRA!!

It was an incredible morning at the boathouse today for the kickoff of the Brian Lilly Jr Memorial fund! A huge thank you goes out to the entire Lilly family for being the catalysts for this effort. It was great to be with so many of our athletes, parents, friends and family to share in what the meaning is behind this effort and we very much look forward to seeing this come to life.

We welcome all donations of any size and appreciate any and all support with the fund. Our first goal is to raise the necessary amount to fund two new 8s for our Youth racing teams. The link to donate is in our bio.

The Boys team is coming off a very productive fall campaign that saw the Varsity 8 finish 21st at the Charles (16th fastest US boat) and 9th at the Schuylkill. The top half of the V8 also showed their speed in the Varsity 4+ at the Housatonic finishing 6th overall.

Moving into the Winter season, the team set out to be both highly productive and disciplined in their approach to training. Led by a very strong and experienced group of seniors, the team has seen multiple erg records set over 2k and 5k since the start of the new year and has established the most depth in erg scores we’ve seen in a very long time around here. The underclassmen are bringing enthusiasm and excitement to every practice, helping set the tone each and everyday. Motivated and hungry to continue the highly competitive trajectory set by the team over the last 5 years, the group will look to push as high as they can this spring and see where they stack up both regionally and nationally.
