Happy National Dog Day!

There’s something special about the connection between kids and dogs. Dogs can bring comfort, build trust, encourage responsibility and, sometimes, simply be the friend who’s always happy to see you.

At the Rick & Carrie Allen Foundation, we believe every young person deserves opportunities to build confidence, discover their strengths and feel supported along the way. Today, we’re celebrating the four-legged friends who can play a pretty special part in that journey.

Here’s to the dogs who bring out smiles, make hard days a little easier and remind us just how powerful a little unconditional love can be.

Happy National Parents Day to all the parents who show up, speak up, and never stop believing in their kids.

If you're raising a child who learns differently, you know the journey isn't always easy. There are moments of uncertainty, hard-earned victories, and so many milestones that deserve to be celebrated—even if they're different from what others expect.

The Rick & Carrie Allen Foundation was created because we know what that journey feels like. We believe every teen deserves the chance to step outside their comfort zone, discover their strengths, and realize they're capable of more than they ever imagined. Watching that confidence grow is one of the greatest gifts a parent can receive.

Today, we're celebrating every parent who continues to encourage, advocate for, and believe in their child—even on the hard days.

Thank you for trusting us to be part of your family's journey. Happy National Parents Day.

Their words say it better than we ever could.

When our students returned home from Spain, we asked them to reflect on what they experienced, what challenged them, and what they learned.

Their answers were thoughtful, honest, and inspiring.

They wrote about seeing traditions from a new perspective, discovering that different beliefs and cultures can coexist, finding the confidence to try something new, and realizing that understanding grows when we listen before we judge.

These reflections remind us that experiential travel is about so much more than visiting new places. It's about helping exceptional learners discover the confidence, curiosity, and empathy they'll carry with them for the rest of their lives. We hope their words inspire you as much as they've inspired us.

Thank you to every family, donor, and supporter who makes these life-changing experiences possible.

The more you travel, the more you realize there's more than one way to see the world.

Something that might seem unusual to you is completely normal somewhere else. And when you experience different cultures firsthand, it's a little harder to judge people for doing things differently. Instead, you start asking questions, listening more, and appreciating the differences.

That's one of the reasons we believe so strongly in educational travel.

For the students who travel with the Rick & Carrie Allen Foundation, the lessons go far beyond history, museums, and landmarks. They come home with a broader perspective, more confidence, and a deeper understanding of the people and the world around them.

Sometimes the greatest thing you bring home from a trip isn't a souvenir—it's a new way of looking at life.

Every great journey begins with a reason.

For our family, that reason was personal.

As parents, we've experienced two very different learning journeys. One of our children has ADHD, while the other has always thrived in a traditional academic setting. Those experiences gave us a firsthand understanding of the challenges, stress, and uncertainty that many families of exceptional learners face. We also saw how many bright, capable teens are underestimated—not because they lack intelligence or potential, but simply because they learn differently.

That's why we created the Rick & Carrie Allen Foundation.

We believe every teen deserves the chance to discover what they're capable of through real experiences that challenge them, inspire them, and help them recognize their own strengths. Whether it's exploring another country, learning through history and culture, or stepping outside their comfort zone, these moments can change the way a young person sees themselves.

Our goal has never been simply to take students on trips. It's to help exceptional learners build confidence, discover their independence, and realize they have so much to offer the world.

Because when a young person begins to believe in themselves, there's no limit to where their journey can take them.

A beautiful way to spend our last day in Spain!

The group enjoyed a relaxing picnic by the lake before setting out to hike the spectacular Caminito del Rey. With breathtaking views, winding walkways, and plenty of opportunities to challenge themselves, it was the perfect way to celebrate an unforgettable journey together.

From new friendships and incredible experiences to lessons learned along the way, this trip has been filled with moments our travelers will carry with them for years to come.

What a day in Ronda!

Our group began the day at Reservatauro, a working ranch dedicated to raising Andalusian horses and fighting bulls. Along the way, they enjoyed local queso and chorizo, met the ranch’s beautiful stallions, and even had the chance to try using a matador’s capote and muleta while learning about this unique Spanish tradition.

After lunch, the group explored the breathtaking city of Ronda, taking in the views of its famous bridge and historic streets. The day concluded with a visit to the Plaza de Toros, where students engaged in thoughtful discussions about the history, culture, and ethics of bullfighting.

Days like these remind us that travel is about more than seeing new places—it's about experiencing different perspectives, asking questions, and learning from the world around us.
