Diamonds, holiday cheer, and Rotary fellowship made for a sparkling evening!

The Rotary Club of Peachtree City gathered at Solomon Brothers Jewelers for our weekly meeting, dinner, and great conversation with fellow Rotarians and guests. President Tammy Soulakos led the meeting and welcomed everyone for a special evening together.

Amy Leuenberger and Steve Rigo shared an exciting preview of plans for one of our most anticipated events of the year, our Holiday Party ! Special thanks to the Holiday Committee: Amy Leuenberger, Steve Rigo, Gail McBride-Vest, Kathy Halpin, and Paige Potter. Holiday party favors were shared with members, along with special recognition for Doug Warner, our most tenured Rotarian.

President Tammy then introduced our guest speaker, Dan Christensen of Solomon Brothers Jewelers. Dan provided an informative overview of Solomon Brothers, the diamond industry, and the many services his store offers. It was a fascinating opportunity to learn more about this outstanding local business.

Thanks to Solomon Brothers Jewelers for hosting our club and for being such a strong supporter of the local communities they serve. We enjoyed great food, great conversation, and a little extra sparkle to the evening!

PIZZA FOR POLIO! Good Food, Great Friends, and a Cause Worth Fighting For!

Who knew a night out for pizza could help change lives around the world?

Tonight, the Rotary Club of Peachtree City brought together great friends, delicious pizza, and a shared commitment to ending polio during our monthly Rotary Dine Around at Partners II Pizza, Aberdeen and Braelinn !

The impact of Rotary is remarkable! Since 1985, Rotary International has contributed more than $2.9 billion toward polio eradication, helping vaccinate children, support disease surveillance, and reduce wild polio cases worldwide by more than 99.9%. But 99.9% isn't 100%, and Rotary isn't stopping until the job is done!

Our Peachtree City Rotarians put Service Above Self into action tonight, opening their hearts and wallets to help protect children they may never meet. That's what Rotary is all about: local generosity making a global difference!

A special thank you to Partners Pizza for supporting this important fundraiser and to our Rotary members for showing once again that giving back is at the heart of everything we do.

No Tricks, Just Treats and Great Coffee!

As October comes to a close, our Rotary Club of Peachtree City Coffee Chats have been brewing up plenty of treats! Great conversations, lots of laughter, and friendships that keep getting stronger!

No tricks needed here! Just good people sharing stories, exchanging ideas, solving a few of the world's problems, and enjoying Rotary fellowship over breakfast at IHOP.

Joining the conversation this morning were Mary Chapman, Doc Jaleel, Christy Jaleel, Marie Schlosser, Paige Potter, Amy Matusek, Amy Benton, Fernando Duenas, Jason Davis, Dr. Jerry Watts, Deanna Williams, and Club President Tammy Soulakos. What a great group to wrap up our October Coffee Chats!

Tuesday mornings remind us that sometimes the best connections happen over a simple cup of coffee.

Here's to a fantastic October and more Coffee Chats ahead!

World Polio Day – Rotary Making a Difference!

Today, October 24, is World Polio Day, a time to recognize Rotary's ongoing commitment to eradicating polio around the world!

Last night, the Rotary Club of Peachtree City joined our community at the Peachtree City Fall Festival and Movie Night to raise awareness about polio and Rotary's efforts to end this devastating disease.

Our Rotary tent featured educational posters highlighting the progress made in fighting polio, the challenges that remain, and Rotary's continued efforts toward a polio-free world.

Throughout the evening, visitors stopped by to learn more, share their appreciation for Rotary's work, and discover that polio still exists in parts of the world today. One especially memorable moment came when our Rotary team met a woman who shared that she was among the earliest recipients of the polio vaccine during its initial testing. What an incredible connection to history and a powerful reminder of how far we've come!

A special thank you to President Tammy Soulakos, Jennifer Lunsford, Jim Mothorpe, and the Matusek family for representing our club and sharing Rotary's mission with our community.

Special people doing special things for our community and making a difference around the world!

Together, we can help finish the job. End Polio Now!

🍕 PIZZA FOR POLIO — A Slice of Hope, A World Without Polio! 🌎

World Polio Day is October 24, and we're celebrating Rotary's commitment to ending polio with our monthly Rotary Dine Around — PIZZA FOR POLIO! 🍕❤️

📅 Tuesday, October 27
🕠 5:30 PM — Join us on the patio!
📍 Partners II Pizza – Braelinn, Peachtree City
🍕 Dine In or Take Out — EVERY SLICE COUNTS!

Thanks to our AMAZING friends at Partners II Pizza, 10% of the evening's proceeds will support Rotary's End Polio Now initiative!

🌎 Why does this matter?
Since 1985, Rotary International has been leading the charge to eradicate polio worldwide. Through our global partnerships and the dedication of Rotarians everywhere, wild polio cases have been reduced by more than 99.9%!
But we're not finished! Polio remains endemic in Afghanistan and Pakistan, and until every child is protected, children everywhere remain at risk. Rotary's commitment is unwavering — we won't stop until polio is gone for good!

❤️ A HUGE THANK YOU to Partners Pizza for stepping up to support this life-changing mission! Community partnerships like this prove that even something as simple as sharing a pizza can make a lasting difference.

So skip cooking Tuesday night, grab your favorite pizza to go, or come hang out with your Rotary friends on the patio at 5:30 PM!

🍕 Good Pizza. Great Fellowship. A Polio-Free World.

Rotary Club of Peachtree City | Service, Awareness & Saving Lives

Our Rotary Club luncheon brought members and guests together for an afternoon of fellowship and an important message about compassion, hope, and helping others.

President Tammy Soulakos led the meeting, with Amos Speight leading our prayer, Pledge of Allegiance, and Four-Way Test.

David O'Rear kept the meeting lively with his Foundation Football update, bringing friendly competition, plenty of Rotary spirit, and support for a great cause!

Turning from friendly competition to a powerful message of hope, we welcomed guest speaker Kenneth “Lou” Koon, a retired U.S. Army Reserve Lieutenant Colonel, veteran military chaplain, author, and nationally recognized su***de intervention expert.

As President and Founder of Stop Su***de USA, Lou has dedicated his life to helping veterans, first responders, and community members facing moments of crisis. With more than 2,200 successful su***de interventions, his work is making a difference and saving lives.

Lou also serves as chaplain for the Peachtree City Police Department and Fayette County Sheriff's Office and has contributed to Georgia's statewide su***de prevention initiatives.

His message reminded us that su***de prevention begins with awareness, compassion, and the willingness to reach out. Sometimes, simply listening and helping someone find support can make all the difference.

Thank you, Lou, for sharing your powerful message and reminding us that Service Above Self means being there for others when they need us most.

People. Purpose. Fellowship. Service Above Self.

A Day of Inspiration, Fellowship, and the Power of Rotary!

Today's Peachtree City Rotary Club luncheon celebrated friendship, service, and opportunities to make a difference!

We were honored to welcome Sophia Wooten, Miss Georgia 2026, introduced by Past District Governor Steve Ivory. A 2026 Miss America participant and former Miss Northwest Georgia and Miss Classic City, Sophia shared an extraordinary story of resilience and determination.

Twenty surgeries over twenty years. Rather than letting medical challenges define her, Sophia has turned her experiences into advocacy for inclusion, acceptance, and belonging. Her powerful message, "You shouldn't have to earn the right to belong," reminded us that personal challenges and differences never make anyone less capable or less worthy. Her courage and positive outlook inspired our entire club!

We also welcomed Sophia's brother, Officer Noah Wooten, and Officer Greta Taylor of the Peachtree City Police Department.

Rotary in Action!

Mary Chapman highlighted the Blue Buckets Alzheimer's initiative; Amy Matusek shared the Rotary Community Corps wreath fundraiser; Dale Phenicie promoted the October 17 Moonlight Swing; Ric Thompson highlighted the October 17 Peachtree City Classic; and J.D. Holmes discussed Salvation Army Bell Ringing opportunities.

Charles Felix kept the laughter going with our raffle! Janette Norris won a bottle of w**e, Marie Schlosser took home the Rotary Tray, and Chavdar Zdravkov reluctantly claimed our Halloween Ghoul!

More Ways to Participate!

November 2: Rotary Means Business at Wild Birds Unlimited
November 5: Bourbon & Bow Ties / Pinot & Pearls
December 6: Callaway Gardens Christmas Outing

Whether volunteering, supporting a fundraiser, or enjoying fellowship, there is a place for everyone to get involved.

Thank you, Sophia, for reminding us that everyone has a story, everyone has value, and everyone deserves to belong.

That's the power of Rotary, bringing together People, Purpose, Fellowship, and Service Above Self!
