Fayette-Starr's Mill members recognized veterans this past weekend in honor of Vietnam Veterans Day 2026. Member Myke Geigel coordinated the event at McDonald's in Peachtree City where local Vietnam veterans and their spouses gather for breakfast. We heard wonderful stories about their time in service and especially their lives since coming back home.
We are fortunate to have had these special people serving our country!

Fayette-Starr’s Mill Chapter had such an incredible time at the Georgia State DAR Conference!

From reconnecting with dear friends to meeting so many wonderful new faces from across the state, the weekend was full of joy, inspiration, purpose and meaningful connection. We were truly honored to receive numerous chapter recognitions and state awards, celebrating the hard work and dedication of our amazing members.
Most of all, we left feeling inspired and proud, carrying the DAR motto—God, Home, and Country—in our hearts.

Already looking forward to next year!

Members from Fayette-Starr’s Mill attended the annual wreath laying ceremony at the statue of “George Washington at Valley Forge” in Washington Square Park in Kansas City, MO, hosted by the Kansas City Chapter, NSDAR. This annual event has occurred since the statue was rededicated in 1932 to commemorate the bicentennial of General Washington's birth.

Following the ceremony, they attended a luncheon at Harvey’s in Union Station to celebrate the 120th anniversary of the Kansas City Chapter and were excited to be joined at their table by Missouri State Regent, Lisa Parks.

A cold but enjoyable day in Kansas City!

At the Fayette-Starr's Mill DAR chapter, we trim trees year round!

On October 21st, members of the James Waldrop and Fayette-Starr's Mill DAR chapters along with members of the Marquis de Lafayette SAR chapter, decorated a Liberty Tree in Brooks, GA in honor of Brook's Heritage Celebration which took place the weekend of October 25th.

Brooks was incorporated by the Georgia State Legislature in 1910. Dan Langford, Brooks’s current mayor, is a 7th-generation resident of the town. His fourth-great grandfather, Hillery Brooks, once owned the farm upon which Dan and his family reside.

Another flashback to fun!

On June 21, 2025, Fayette-Starr's Mill and James Waldrop DAR chapters along with the Marquis de Lafayette SAR chapter, held an interactive event for children to learn about, and celebrate, our nation's upcoming 2026 Semiquincentennial (or 250th anniversary of our Declaration of Independence).

The event took place near Peachtree City's Liberty Tree at Drake Field. Refreshments were served, pictures were available with Betsy Ross and Uncle Sam face cut-outs, and children received patriotic bracelets, flags, and necklaces.

On December 6, 2025, Fayette-Starr's Mill members attended a Candlelight Tour of historic Meadow Garden in Augusta, GA. Meadow Garden is the home of George Walton, one of three Georgia signers of the Declaration of Independence. In 1900, the Daughters of the American Revolution purchased Meadow Garden and placed the historic house in the care of the Georgia State Society and the Augusta Chapter. The women then began the hard work of preserving the home to its original historical structure and has maintained the home for 120 years.

Meadow Garden tours are available Monday - Friday from 10:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.

Over the next few weeks, Fayette-Starr's Mill will be reflecting on some joyful (and warmer!) times with the chapter as we look back on some Liberty Tree Dedications we've done in anticipation of America's 250th anniversary in 2026.

Fayette-Starr's Mill Chapter held a special Liberty Tree Dedication on June 9, 2025 in honor of the upcoming 250th anniversary of America's Declaration of Independence. The tree is located at historic Starr's Mill Park in Fayette County and is the namesake of our chapter. The original Liberty Tree in Boston was a gathering place for American colonists before the years of the American Revolution and became a symbol of patriotism.
Joining Fayette-Starr's Mill at the dedication included members of the James Waldrop and General Daniel Newnan DAR chapters, the Marquis de Lafayette, Sons of the American Revolution chapter, and Children of the American Revolution.
