Toymakers of East Lake

Toymakers of East Lake ToyMakers of East Lake is a Non-Profit Organization centered around making wooden toys for sick and underprivileged children. We are 100% Volunteer Based.

ToyMakers began in 1982 when Jim McCullagh learned that his grandchild didn't have any toys to play with while in All Children's Hospital in St. Petersburg, Florida. To meet this need he, his boyhood friend, Bruce Pahl, and their wives started making simple, colorful wooden toys to donate. These toys were given to All Children's Hospital, then to local Ronald McDonald Houses and other local agenci

es. This toy making tradition continues today with ToyMakers of East Lake. We made and distributed more than 20,000 toys I recent years. All are wooden, contain no metal, and are painted with bright colors. We continue to add to our recipient list unserved children's agencies in the Florida and also provide toys for children in disaster areas or otherwise dire circumstances in other states and foreign countries. Since inception, ToyMakers of East Lake has been blessed with the receipt of monies and products donated by both individuals and organizations. When you consider that we use about 80,000 wheels, thousands of dowels for axles, and untold gallons of paint every year, not to mention repairs to our machines, you can understand our very deep appreciation of our sponsors, who are our partners in this mission. Thank you for visiting the ToyMakers of East Lake web site to learn about us. Contact us if you would like to volunteer at our Palm Harbor location, if you know of an agency that cares for children in need and would appreciate receiving our toys, or if you wish to donate in-kind products. www.toymakersofeastlake.org

Sometimes the biggest gifts aren't measured in dollars, they're measured in the smiles they'll help create. 💚

We're incredibly honored to have received a $2,000 Daisy Grant from the GFWC Clearwater Community Woman's Club to help purchase a new Powermatic Band Saw for the ToyMakers workshop.

Every toy we build starts with raw materials, dedicated volunteers, and the support of an amazing community. This investment will help us continue creating handcrafted wooden toys that bring joy to children throughout our region.

To everyone at the GFWC Clearwater Community Woman's Club: thank you for believing in our mission and helping us continue making smiles, one toy at a time.

💚 Every handcrafted toy starts with the right tools. And thanks to the generosity of the GFWC Clearwater Community Woman's Club we’ll be able to keep making smiles for years to come.

Just a few weeks ago, ToyMakers of East Lake was honored to receive a $2,000 Daisy Grant from the GFWC Clearwater Community Woman’s Club to help purchase a new Powermatic Band Saw for our workshop.

This isn’t just a piece of equipment, it’s an investment in our mission.

Every board that’s cut, every toy that’s shaped, and every smile that’s created begins with reliable tools and the generosity of community partners who believe in what we do. Grants like this help ensure our volunteers can continue building high-quality handcrafted wooden toys for children throughout our community.

We are incredibly grateful to the members of the GFWC Clearwater Community Woman’s Club for their support and belief in the ToyMakers mission. Your generosity will have an impact far beyond our workshop walls.

Thank you for helping us continue creating smiles, one handcrafted toy at a time. ❤️

It takes a lot of hands to turn a piece of lumber into a child’s smile. ❤️🧸

A huge thank you to Sagicor Life Insurance Company Tampa for spending part of their day volunteering with ToyMakers of East Lake!

Their team jumped right into the production process, helping plane lumber, sand toy parts, rack and unrack wheels and toy components, decorate toys, and assist with assembly preparation.

What many people don’t realize is that every toy distributed through ToyMakers begins as raw wood and individual parts. Before a toy ever reaches a child, it passes through dozens of hands and multiple production stages. Volunteers like the Sagicor team help make that entire process possible.

Because of community partners who generously donate their time, we’re able to continue creating thousands of handcrafted toys that are distributed to children and families through local agencies across our region.

Thank you, Sagicor Life Insurance Company Tampa, for your hard work, enthusiasm, and commitment to giving back to the community. We truly appreciate your support and hope to welcome you back to the workshop again soon!

Inside this workshop, thousands of handmade wooden toys have been created for children throughout our community.

But the true impact of ToyMakers goes beyond the toys themselves.

Every toy built here represents time, care, craftsmanship, and volunteers who believe in making a difference one child at a time.

“Be the labor, great or small. Do it well or not at all.”

As a nonprofit organization, ToyMakers depends on volunteers and community support to continue serving children and families throughout the area.

One of the best parts of ToyMakers has always been the community behind it.

After this year’s scholarship presentation, volunteers, families, and supporters gathered together to celebrate, share stories, enjoy cake, and spend time together.

For many of our volunteers, ToyMakers has become more than a workshop. It’s become a second family.

Every toy built and every scholarship awarded is possible because of the volunteers and supporters who continue believing in this mission.

ToyMakers isn’t just about building toys.

It’s about building future leaders.

Our student volunteers learn far more than woodworking skills inside the shop. They learn teamwork, service, craftsmanship, leadership, and the importance of giving back to their community.

Watching these young men grow over the years has been one of the greatest rewards for our volunteers.

The future is bright.

Interested in volunteering with ToyMakers? Whether you enjoy woodworking, helping behind the scenes, or simply want to give back to the community, we’d love to welcome you.

Behind every toy delivered is a team of volunteers giving their time, energy, and heart to serve children throughout our community.

From sanding and painting to packing and organizing deliveries, every step is powered by people who simply want to make a difference.

Earlier this month, ToyMakers of Eastlake distributed more than 4,000 handmade toys to over 20 local agencies and community partners during its Q2 Master Boxing Day.

Since 2007, ToyMakers has helped distribute more than 246,000 toys and smiles throughout the community and none of it would be possible without our volunteers.

A huge thank you to the students and staff from Corbett Preparatory School of IDS in Tampa for spending time with us at ToyMakers of Eastlake!

These students rolled up their sleeves and jumped right into the process of creating toys that will eventually bring smiles to children throughout our community. From sanding and painting to assembly and quality checks, they experienced firsthand what it takes to turn simple pieces of wood into something special.

One of the things we love most about ToyMakers is introducing the next generation to the power of service, volunteerism, craftsmanship, and community involvement. These students didn’t just visit our workshop, they became part of our mission.

Every toy made at ToyMakers is created by volunteers and distributed through local agencies serving children and families in need. Future generations of volunteers are essential to keeping that mission alive.

Thank you, Corbett Prep, for your enthusiasm, hard work, and willingness to give back. We hope to see you again soon!
