We were proud to host our annual banquet on Saturday, April 25th on behalf of the East Lake Firefighters Benevolent Association.

It was a great evening spent reflecting on everything we accomplished over the past year and supporting our firefighters, giving back to our community, and continuing to grow our mission.

One of the highlights of the night was recognizing excellence within our department. We are honored to announce that Tyler Barr has been named our 2025 Firefighter of the Year. This award represents his dedication, hard work, and commitment to serving both our department and the community.

We are all set up to check-in runners this morning!

Packet pickup is at Station 57 located at 3375 Lake Tarpon Blvd, Palm Harbor, FL 34685. Packet pick up hours are:
Wednesday 2/25 9am-1pm
Thursday 2/26 2pm-6pm
Friday 2/27 9am-1pm
Saturday Race Day Morning at 7am

Station 57 is also the starting location for the race!

We’re just over a week out from the East Lake Firefighters 5K!

Right now, we’re at 241 registered runners, and remember, the first 300 participants will receive a finisher medal and an official race t-shirt. Don’t wait… spots are filling fast!

The East Lake Firefighters 5K is on Saturday February 28, 2026.

Did someone say coffee?? We are excited to have Good Fruit Coffee offering delicious fresh brewed coffee on race day, February 28th. They will have their coffee truck set up from 7am-11am at Station 57

Mobile coffee truck & espresso bar catering across St. Petersburg, Tampa Bay & Wesley Chapel. Specialty beans, friendly baristas, and freshly roasted coffee for every event.

📣 Volunteers Needed for the East Lake Firefighters 5K! 🚒🏃‍♂️🏃‍♀️

We can’t put on an amazing event without YOU! The East Lake Firefighters 5K on February 28, 2026 needs volunteers to help make race day safe, smooth, and fun for everyone involved. High school students who volunteer can get hours signed off towards their graduation requirement!

Volunteer roles include:
🔥 Helping set up tables, tents, and firehouse booths
🚩 Assisting at the Start/Finish Line — greeting runners and handing out medals
📍 Guiding runners at course turns and keeping them on route
💧 Staffing Hydration Stations — filling & handing out water
🧹 Assisting with Clean-Up after the event is over
(And more roles may be available!)

This event supports a great cause, benefiting first responders and families in need and it’s a fun way to give back to our community!

We are excited to announce the Race Route for our East Lake Firefighters 5K on February 28th, 2026.

The race will start just north of East Lake Fire Rescue Station 57, located at 3375 Tarpon Lake Blvd. From the start, runners will head east on Village Center Drive. Upon reaching East Lake Road, the course turns north onto the Pinellas Trail, where runners will pass the one-mile mark. Runners will continue north on the Pinellas Trail until reaching Lansbrook Parkway, then make a left and head east for just over a quarter mile. At Tarpon Lake Boulevard, runners will turn left and begin the final 1.23-mile stretch to the finish line. The route will be lined with safety cones and there will be volunteers guiding the runners at each turn.
