♻️ Smart technology at work in the MRF!

Optical sorters use high-speed sensors to identify different types of materials moving along the conveyor belt. Once identified, targeted bursts of air separate valuable recyclables from the waste stream.

It’s one of the ways modern technology helps recover more recyclable material, improve efficiency, and divert waste from landfills.

One of the first stops for material entering Municipal Waste Solutions is the trommel.♻️🗑️

The trommel is a rotating screening system that separates material by size. As it spins, smaller materials fall through the holes in the drum to continue down the conveyor belt, while larger items stay within the trommel for their own sorting and recovery.

By separating materials early, the trommel keeps materials moving efficiently through the facility and helps maximize recovery at every at every stage of operations.
