Orono Pride

Orono Pride Committed to LGBTQ+ advocacy, education, and representation in Orono and beyond.

We began in the spring of 2020, as a loose collection of community members seeking to celebrate Pride safely during a global pandemic. What started as an effort to lift people's spirits quickly grew into a summer of programming, fundraising, and visible support for people who are LGBTQ+ in Orono and beyond. We organized the Orono Pride nonprofit as a way to continue our work with intention.

This is the 2026 Reinventing of Orono Pride. More to come!

06/30/2026

The end of Pride month is upon us, but that doesn't mean that Pride is gone! Thank you to all that came to the first Orono Pridefest. While small, we were mighty. Many thanks to the Church of Universal Fellowship for the generous donation that made it possible.
It is now time to vote on a name that can be used for years to come. Attendees from last weekend came up with names, and we would like you to vote on the winner! Comment the letter of the name that you like below.
We will keep this vote open until July 11th. A winner will then be decided and gifted 2 passes donated by Black Bear Cinema's and an awesome Popcorn Bucket!

A - Prism Fest
B - Manakwan
C - Orono Rainbow Fest
D - Rainbow Day
E - Magic Colors Party
F - Days of Color
G - Penobscot Pride Party

We're BACK!
Tomorrow will be the revamp of Orono Pride.
While this year will be small and casual, this is the foundation year to restart this great tradition. We hope you stop by for lawn games, crafts, Bingo, and Trivia. We will be hosting a Pride Dance Party and have popcorn while supplies last. This is a family friendly event and we are looking forward to seeing you there! Join us tomorrow, Saturday June 20th from 2:30pm until 5:30pm at 10 Birch Street behind the Orono Public Library.
Don't forget that we will be holding a name contest for this festival. Prize for the chosen name graciously donated by Black Bear Cinemas
