We have received a second call from Bangor Parks about non sanctioned trail work at Essex Woods. This is absolutely not allowed. Please stop immediately.

Our trail networks are all on private property managed by a wide assortment of organizations. They all have unique and specific land use requirements. PRNEMBA is here to help riders connect with these land owners, build positive relationships and use these lands with respect. Unsanctioned trail work and use is what loses access. You are only hurting the bike community.

If you want to do trail work please, come to a planned trail day. Next one is Thursday, June 4th! Come run the compactor.

Trail work Thursday: June 4th

5:30-7:30pm

Sargent parking lot off Poplar St - Rick Swans/Perch Pond.

We provided gravel to improve an old existing parking area to a new trail that connects Poplar St. to 100 Acre Wood. It has been spread by the UMaine crew but we need 4-5 people to tamp and run the compactor.

Lower Otter and Lower Blue Jay are open after tonight's work day! 🥳 As usual, be careful riding after heavy rain. If you're leaving tracks, please turn back.

We are keeping Lower Chickadee closed for now due to wetness. Hopefully it will be ready to ride in a couple weeks. For now, hang a right to climb up the double track to get back to the Hedgehog entrance to Upper Chickadee. Please respect trail closures!

Thank you to those that came out to work on these trails!
It takes an incredible amount of human power and time to get these trails open. Please consider volunteering your time to a trail day or two every season. If you can't do trail work, giving a monetary donation to help with these trail maintenance efforts would be appreciated.

Trail work days continue on Thursday nights throughout the season. Watch here and your email for information.

If you aren't yet a NEMBA member, please head to NEMBA.org and renew or join. Choose Penobscot Region as your chapter. A substantial portion of your membership fee comes back to your chapter to help pay for materials and supplies to maintain these trails. We have a lot of lapsed memberships due to an issue with auto renew - go check your account.

Special shout out to 🙌🏻 🙌🏻

We are hosting trail work to finish tread work and (hopefully) open the lower portions of the flow trails and climb trail.

Date: Thursday, May 28

Time: 5:30- 7:45pm

Location: Bangor Hill Flow Trails, Hedgehog Rd trail crossing

What to bring: Gloves, Bug Spray Water, Snacks. There are tools on site.

We need to finish up the berm on the green trail and clean up the climb trail. We cannot open them until this is done and the water dries. Many hands make light work! At least 6-8 people are needed.

We will be scheduling more trail work on Thursdays throughout the summer. We will be giving an update on tentative locations coming up.
