We are looking for 5 new board members to replace the outgoing board positions.

Once on the board, you get involved in ways that interest you - do you want to host or plan events? Do you want to lead rides? Help with trail maintenance or winter grooming? Or are you interested in our ongoing trail development projects?

Looking ahead to our next 2 years we will be moving back into fundraising, grant writing and project management and we are looking for members that have an interest or experience in these spaces. However, no experience is necessary! Board meetings are monthly, 1-1.5 hour meetings in the evening. Weekly time commitments are usually small but will vary depending on the season and current projects.

If you want to be involved and in the know about the local mountain biking scene, look no further!

A great crew for the S'Ender! Thank you to Knife Edge Brewing and Katahdin Area Trails for the great location. What a day!

The local mountain bike season is drawing to a close but there is still good riding to be had. Get out while you can! Wear your high vis and watch for tread marks. We will keep you updated on seasonal trail closures.

Stay tuned for winter grooming reports!

Heads up for ride planning...

The Marsh Island Trail Runners are hosting their annual fixed time ultra at CBOC on Saturday, October 17th. Although the trails at the Orono Land Trust will not be closed, the main parking lot will be to accommodate the finish line and runner support.

Part of the race uses 'Peak to Peak' to the top of Bangor Hill so for runner safety, please avoid that trail after 1:30 pm. There may also be event prep earlier that day including leaf blowing and trail marking.

If riding on property, be careful and watch for runners to avoid collisions. Also please be mindful of their signage and trail markers! Please do not remove or disturb trail signs or marking tape.

Ride with gratitude! Good luck to the runners!

Join us for the Season Ender S'ender Katahdin Area Trails!

When: Sunday, Oct. 18. Rides start at 10am.

What: We will have two pace groups with an easier pace group doing green and blue level trails and a moderate pace group doing blue and black trails.

Where: Park at the Knife Edge Parking lot for Hammond Ridge Trail system. 200 Katahdin View Dr.

Rides will be about 2 hours followed by a social Knife Edge Brewing for 🍕!

Bring a helmet and necessary gear for an approximately 2 hour ride.

See you then!

Sharing a local event for Boys and Girls in grades 6-8:

Dedham Invitational Mountain Biking Competitions are back for the 6th year!

1.25 mile course with intermediate to difficult course difficulty.75 mile course with beginner to intermediate course difficulty.

Slow Ride Competition ongoing throughout the afternoon. Riders compete for the slowest time to complete a short downhill course.

Personal bikes must pass a safety check to be eligible to be used in the competition.

All riders will be required to wear properly fitting helmets.

Individuals are allowed to participate in 1 race and the slow ride competition.

Race Schedule:
Friday September 18th 3:45
Monday October 19th 3:45

Awards and Scoring: Ribbons for 1st-5th place winners for each race and competition. Participation ribbons for all other places.

All racers must pre-register and fill out a mountain bike waiver. Competitors must have an adult coach or guardian present during the competition.

Sufferfest is on!

Come ride the Tour de Penobscot Region in a series of 3 loops leaving from the Caribou Bog Outdoor Center Orono Land Trust. First loop rolls out at 10am! Got what it takes to ride all 3? Can you hang on to the pace? Come find out!

Want to Suffer-less? No problem! Come ride the first 24mi loop through the Old Town/Orono/University system at a reduced pace, no drop.

Bring what you need to support yourself through the full day effort (fuel, hydration). We will have water and Skratch at CBOC but you will need to supply yourself on the trail. We will circle back to the cars after each loop so you can resupply. Bug spray and sunscreen is a good idea. Helmets required!

Our fearless leader for SUFFERFEST cannot lead due to a slow recovery from illness. We have decided to push the date back to August 1st to allow him more time for recovery. Silver lining - less deer flies?

Trail 6 work and maintenance Orono Land Trust is on tap this week.

Bring hand loppers if you have them, gloves and appropriate clothing and bug spray. We will have the rest!

Meet at CBOC parking lot 154 Taylor Rd, Orono at 5:30pm.

If you come late, ride out to the bottom of the flow trails on Beaver and you'll find us.
