Last week, FPEP hosted our Rising Scholars Mentorship Kickoff

We are so thrilled to have 7 students participating with 6 mentors in our 2026-2027 cohort! The Rising Scholars Program at UCF is designed to support students who have been justice-impacted — whether through incarceration, probation, or the incarceration of a family member—by providing resources, mentorship, and advocacy to help them thrive in higher education. At UCF, we believe in unleashing the potential of every student, and the Rising Scholars program seeks to remove barriers and create pathways to student success. We are focused on peer and faculty mentorship, student cohorts, and networking opportunities to foster belonging and empower students to become leaders.

On Saturday, October 3, we had our second book packing day for our 2026-2027 Books Behind Bars Fellowship!

Thanks to 5 of our BBB Fellows, and our wonderful interns Lauren Lopez, Micah Lynn, and Grant Snyder, we packed up 889 books to send into Florida Correctional Institutions
