Your s*xual health matters, especially since chems*x can change how your body responds and how you make decisions.

Knowing your HIV & STI status, using prevention tools like doxyPEP/PrEP/condoms, and understanding how different substances interact with your body is all part of it. You deserve pleasure, protection, and the confidence to make the right decision for you.

2nd Chems*x Awareness Week (2026): centering sexual health + harm reduction for q***r & trans people who use chems. Focusing on open conversations between patients + providers about chemsex & sexual health.

Chems*x doesn’t look the same for everyone. For Black gay and q***r men, notes s*xual health activist and content creator Daniel Downer (.j.downer), it may look like relying on alcohol or other substances to help you in the moment. You aren’t navigating this alone!

May 11-17 is the second ever Chems*x Awareness Week, a campaign to promote s*xual health and harm reduction strategies for q***r and trans people having chems*x. This year’s focus is on improving the relationship between patients and providers, encouraging both to have honest, open conversations about s*x and dr*g use.

As we celebrate Women’s History Month we want to recognize two women whose work continues to make a lasting difference in the community.

Francis Oliver and Pasha Baker of the Goldsboro Museum have spent years preserving the history and legacy of the historic Goldsboro community. Their dedication helps make sure those stories remain part of Sanford’s living history.

They have also been longtime supporters of our organization and partners in many of our community efforts in the Sanford area. In 2022 we had the honor of recognizing them as recipients of our We Shall Overcome Trailblazer Award for their leadership and their support of the work happening in our community, including Central Florida’s Black LGBTQIA+ community.

We are grateful for their continued partnership and everything they do for our community.

Happy Women’s History Month.

2026 is the year of feeling GOOD, not guessing about your sexual health.

A full sexual health check should include bloodwork, a urine test, a throat swab, a re**al swab if applicable, and a vaginal swab if applicable.

Not fun to talk about? We get it. But knowing your status = peace of mind.

Here’s the tea: your doctor or local health department can hook you up, often at low or no cost. Not comfy going there? Lots of community organizations offer these tests for free or at a low cost.

Start the year off knowing you’re covered.

World AIDS Day honors the past, celebrates resilience, and commits to a stigma-free future. Poet Jericho Brown, living with HIV since 2012, challenges stigma in his poem “The Virus.” Jericho reminds us that HIV isn’t a death sentence, but stigma and fear persist.

We mourn the passing of Miss Major Griffin-Gracy, a towering force of love, justice, and liberation.

Miss Major’s courage helped shape generations of trans, Black, and q***r resistance. From surviving Stonewall to founding the House of GG, she built spaces of safety and healing for trans women of color who were too often forgotten.

Her legacy is immeasurable. Her power lives on in every act of care, every voice raised for freedom, and every community that refuses to be erased.

Rest in power, Miss Major.

Stigma, silence, and shame don’t protect us. Love does. Action does. Truth does.

And that’s the heart of what MarAnthony, one of our program alums, reminds us:

“No one is going to love me more than me. And no one is going to protect me more than me.”

With Southern HIV/AIDS Awareness Day coming up on August 20, it’s the perfect time to pause and reflect on what really keeps us safe: love for ourselves, love for our people, and love for our communities.

Because whether you’re living with HIV or protecting yourself from it, your life matters, your truth matters, YOU matter.
