What a fantastic Back to School Night at OCPS Academic Center for Excellence! We loved meeting so many wonderful families and sharing our new Creative Explorers Art Club for K–2nd graders! It was so much fun introducing everyone to our incredible Teaching Artists Ms. Lexi and Ms. Delia, seeing Delia’s beautiful mural, and watching our “Draw Yourself” community art project come to life with so many creative faces.

We are looking forward to partnering with ACE this fall! Young artists will paint, draw, sculpt, print, and collage while exploring the elements of art through fun, hands-on projects. As they create, they’ll build foundational art skills, spark their imagination, strengthen creativity and problem-solving, and grow in confidence while expressing their unique ideas. The program concludes with a special family art showcase celebrating each child’s creativity, growth, and artistic accomplishments.

When: Wednesday, October 14th - Wednesday, December 9th

TIME: 2:30 - 3:30 PM

Artists in WonderStudio: Sculpture Saturdays
Get ready to think in 3D! In this hands-on sculpture class, students will explore a variety of sculpting techniques while creating imaginative projects with polymer clay, papier-mâché, plaster-cloth, found objects, and other mixed-media materials. We’ll learn how to build armatures, experiment with texture and surface design, and bring ideas to life through both realistic and abstract sculptures. Along the way, students will discover how shape, balance, scale, and color can transform ordinary materials into extraordinary works of art. With plenty of opportunities to experiment, problem-solve, and play, students will develop new skills while creating unique sculptures that showcase their creativity and personal style.

Come join us for 10 art filled Saturdays! Artists in WonderStudio is a Saturday art class series held in ArtReach’s Community Classroom designed to introduce 5th-8th grade students to contemporary art through inquiry-based learning, introduction to digital artist tools, hands-on studio art experiences, and interactions with professional artists. Each week students explore meaningful ideas and processes that help them investigate the world around them through the elements of art while, most importantly, having lots of fun. Different themes and media are explored with an emphasis on the process over the final product to allow creativity to flow freely. The program culminates in a final presentation for students’ families.

In addition to five weeks of Kids Camp with Hope CommUnity Center this summer, we partnered to offer Spark Camp, a special one week experience for middle school students that combined art and leadership to help youth discover their unique voices and build real world confidence.

Throughout the week, campers explored how creativity and leadership can inspire positive change in their communities. One of their guiding reflections was, “In the future, I hope for...” Using that prompt, they created colorful collages that brought their hopes for a brighter future to life.

We are so proud of our middle and high school Wondercamp artists for everything they’ve accomplished this summer. Throughout camp, they’ve explored a variety of painting mediums, experimented with new techniques, and discovered different ways to approach the creative process. With every project, they’re developing their artistic voices and finding new ways to express themselves.

At ArtReach Orlando, one of our foundational missions is to empower young people to take creative risks, embrace a growth mindset, and build confidence in themselves as artists. We believe that when students are encouraged to experiment, learn from mistakes, and keep going, they create artwork that is authentic, meaningful, and true to who they are.

We also know these experiences extend beyond the art room. The confidence, resilience, and problem-solving skills students develop through art can support success in many areas of life, and meaningful engagement in the arts can have a positive impact on emotional well-being and mental health.

We’re honored to be part of their artistic journeys and can’t wait to see what they create next.

Meet Ana, one of our amazing Artists in Wondercamp students!

Ana is a rising 8th grader and has been part of ArtReach Orlando since she was just 6 years old. For the past eight years, we’ve had the privilege of watching her grow into a thoughtful artist, a confident leader, and a compassionate advocate.

When we asked our students how they’ve changed or grown from attending Artists in Wondercamp, this is what Ana shared:

“ArtReach Orlando has helped me learn who I truly am. I get to make art that shows how I really feel, and I wouldn’t be who I am today without ArtReach. I’ve been attending programs here for eight years and can proudly say that I’ve grown up here and it’s like my second home. Artists in Wondercamp has helped me learn to express myself and speak out about injustice. It’s a place that reminds you that you are never truly alone. Camp is my safe place away from the negativity of the world.” 💙

Thank you, Ana, for sharing your heart with us. Your creativity, courage, and authenticity inspire our entire community.

*Shared with student’s permission.

This week at Artists in Wondercamp our high school students are exploring the art of the animal kingdom. Using acrylic paint and underpainting techniques, students created tightly framed animal portraits full of vibrant color, bold contrast, and expressive detail. Each piece captures the unique personality and spirit of its subject while showcasing our young artists’ growing technical skills.
