Michael Knight is thrilled to join Central Florida Vocal Arts as Director of Evil Dead: The Musical — a show that has long been on his creative bucket list.
Originally from the great state of Michigan, Michael is an Orlando-based writer, director, actor and producer known for bringing bold, irreverent and highly theatrical ideas to the stage. As Creative Director at New Generation Theatrical, he has spent the past several years developing original work while also creating opportunities for Orlando writers and artists to bring their own stories to life.
His notable writing and directing credits include The Foreplay: An Exploration of the Birth of Our Nation, The Fabulous King James Bible, Dolley. F**ing. Madison.*, and the immersive Gothic anthology series at New Generation Theatrical. Michael has also carved out something of a specialty in parody and pop-culture musicals, directing Stranger Sings at the Dr. Phillips Center for the Performing Arts and Cruel Intentions: The Musical at Osceola Arts, writing The Mando-larody for Little Radicals Theatrics, and creating a comedic Christmas cabaret for Central Florida Vocal Arts.
With its combination of horror, comedy, music and complete theatrical chaos, Evil Dead feels right at home in Michael’s world. He is incredibly grateful to CFVA for trusting him with the opportunity to take on one of his dream shows.
Michael also sends enormous thanks to the friends and creative collaborators who continue to follow him into these wonderfully crazy ideas. Having a community willing to listen, create, challenge and say “yes” is at the heart of everything he does. And, of course, endless love and gratitude to Meghan for the support, patience and understanding required to share a life with someone fully committed to the insanity of show business.
