What happens when a nonprofit has good technology, but its systems don’t work well together?

Cathexis Partners Founding Partner Mark Becker recently joined Virtuous and iPaaS.com for a podcast conversation about nonprofit technology, integrations, and building a more connected technology ecosystem.

The discussion explores an issue we see frequently in our work with nonprofits: adding another platform doesn’t necessarily solve the underlying problem. Organizations need to consider how data moves across their CRM, fundraising, website, communications, and other systems, and how those connections affect staff efficiency and the supporter experience.

AI is moving quickly. Most nonprofits do not need more hype. They need practical guidance about what these tools can do, what they cost, where they create risk, and how to use them responsibly.

On Thursday, October 1, we are launching ThursdAI by Cathexis Partners:

Practical, responsible AI guidance for nonprofits.

The weekly series will cover:

• Chat assistants, copilots, automation, and AI agents
• Nonprofit pricing and technology options
• Organizational and staff readiness
• Data, privacy, security, and governance
• Practical nonprofit use cases
• AI strategy, implementation, and measurement

The series supports the Fundraising.AI Framework for Responsible and Beneficial AI for Fundraising.

Our goal is to help nonprofits translate those principles into practical decisions across their people, processes, data, and technology.

Follow Cathexis Partners and watch for the first ThursdAI installment on October 1.

The Hidden Cost of Online Giving: What Platform Fees Mean for Nonprofits | by Mark Becker via NonProfit PRO

For fundraisers, the conversation cannot stop at the balance sheet. Online fundraising platform fees do not just change what an organization nets on a $100 gift. They influence every decision that sits upstream of that transaction — from how the ask is framed and how the donation form is designed to whether the organization has been honest with itself about what it is asking donors to absorb.

Before You Replace Your Nonprofit CRM, Fix the Process Behind It | by Mark Becker

Your nonprofit’s CRM may not be the real problem. Learn why assessing workflows, data ownership and workarounds before replacing technology leads to better decisions and stronger implementations.

In our experience conducting technology assessments and platform selection projects, the most successful organizations focus less on individual products and more on how their technology ecosystem supports their mission, staff, and constituents.
