The dates for Loess Bluff's "Eagle Days" event have been announced! The event will take place the weekend of Dec. 6-7. This is a one-of-a-kind opportunity to see overwintering Bald Eagles, not to mention thousands of waterfowl! Stay tuned for more event details.
Loess Bluffs National Wildlife Refuge is located about 100 miles south of Omaha in northwest Missouri near Mound City. It features a 10-mile driving loop through the refuge wetlands to spot eagles and other birds including swans, geese, ducks, and shorebirds. If you are looking for a fun weekend adventure, check out Eagle Days!
While this is the first waterfowl survey that has been completed since late September, waterfowl numbers have been continuously increasing over the past month, and current numbers represent the most ducks, geese, swans, and eagles that we've seen during the 2025 fall migration.
Loess Bluffs NWR will be hosting the 46th Annual Eagle Days event on December 6th and 7th this year. Additional Eagle Days information will be posted soon. We hope to see you there!
