April is Stress Awareness Month—a reminder to pause and check in with yourself and those around you.

Stress is a normal part of life, but when it builds up, it can affect our mood, focus, sleep, and overall well-being. Taking small steps each day can make a big difference: set boundaries, take short breaks, move your body, connect with someone you trust, and make time for rest.

When students miss school, there is often more to the story. Challenges at home, conflict with peers, misunderstandings, or barriers at school can all play a role in why a student is missing class. Sometimes the first step to improving attendance is simply having the conversation.
Mediation creates a supportive space where students, families, and schools can talk openly, identify concerns, and work together toward solutions that help students stay engaged and succeed.

In honor of Debra’s longtime affiliation with Concord Mediation Center and her steadfast dedication to children and families in Douglas and Sarpy counties, we proudly presented this donation to Sarpy County CASA in her memory.

Debra Blue worked as a mediator in Omaha for over 20 years with The Community Mediation Center, which later became Concord Mediation Center. In 2009, she served as the organization’s Interim Executive Director. After her years of dedicated service there, she began working as a private mediator, specializing in supporting divorcing parents and helping families navigate challenging transitions with care and compassion.

Debra was also a long-time volunteer with Sarpy County CASA, where she served as an advocate for children in the foster care system, giving her time and voice to support some of the community’s most vulnerable youth.
