Think of it as the mammogram moment for Alzheimer’s.

When Congress made Medicare cover mammograms, screening rates went up and lives were saved. We have that same chance now with a blood test that can screen for Alzheimer’s early, but Medicare can’t cover it yet because of an outdated law.

We can't let National Hispanic and Latino Heritage Month go by without spotlighting volunteer leader Nubia Quiros.

Growing up in Panama, Nubia loved spending time with her grandparents and listening to their stories. Years later, while working with Nebraska's Hispanic community, she saw firsthand the need for healthcare information in Spanish, and began looking for ways to help.

Today, Nubia volunteers as a Community Educator with the Alzheimer's Association Nebraska Chapter, bringing education and resources directly to Spanish-speaking families.

Nubia says, "It's a blessing that an organization exists providing information on this very important topic. I hope we continue reaching every person who needs it.”

"Nubia brings a unique mix of warmth and joy to her presentations," says Nebraska Program Manager Sadie Hinkel. "Her passion for Alzheimer's education and awareness in Hispanic communities has impacted many lives."

Thank you, Nubia, for helping more families access the information and support they deserve.
