🎤 Introducing Our Speakers & Conference Tracks!

Join Dr. Robyn K. Dean, CI/CT, PhD for:

“Embracing & Discerning Expertise: Introduction to Case Conferencing for Community Interpreters”

What do we really know as interpreters and how do we know it? 💭

In this session, Dr. Dean takes a deeper look at reflective practice and how interpreters can move beyond intuitive expertise to better understand, articulate, and strengthen the knowledge behind the decisions they make.

Through an introduction to case conferencing and practice relevant theories, attendees will explore how thoughtfully analyzing real world interpreting experiences can reveal not only what we know and how we know it but also what we don’t know.

Because professional growth isn’t just about gaining experience. It’s about learning how to reflect on it, understand it, and apply it.

🗓️ Saturday, September 26 | 10:15am–12:00pm
🎤 Day Two | Track One

Come ready to reflect, challenge your thinking, and take a closer look at the expertise you bring to your work.

Join Dr. Robyn K. Dean, CI/CT, PhD for our Day One Keynote:

“Re-making the Bed We’re Lying In: Claiming Our Expertise in the Age of AI”

As AI continues to reshape translation and interpreting, what remains uniquely human? Our expertise.

Drawing on more than 35 years as a nationally certified signed language interpreter and her internationally recognized work in decision-making and ethics, Dr. Dean will explore what sets human professionals apart in an age of AI.

Experience. Knowledge. Competence. Discernment. These four pillars of expertise remind us that AI may synthesize what it has been given, but it cannot replace the judgment and expertise of a translator or interpreter working within the complexities of a real-world context.
