Project Extra Mile Project Extra Mile's mission is to advocate for evidence-based policies and practices to prevent and reduce alcohol-related harms.

Community organizing is the foundation of our efforts in preventing excessive alcohol consumption and the related harms. Our work is focused on policy initiatives, enforcement collaborations, media advocacy, education and awareness, and youth leadership.

We are extremely grateful to Author Michelle Cowan and Zach for their generous support of our mission. Their movie will allow us to continue to advocate for evidence-based policies to prevent impaired driving and save lives.

About 17 years ago, Joe Cowan lost his life when the car he was driving was hit by a drunk driver near 108th and Highway 36. Now there are plans to produce a movie about how Cowan’s family was able to move on after the tragedy.
