Olympia Area Rowing

10/07/2026

We are looking for volunteers to help with the very important and timely task of removing rust from our trailer and painting it with anti-rust paint. There's an opportunity to complete as much of this work as possible on Oct. 16-18. The trailer will be at Swantown Marina & Boatworks (650 Marine Dr NE, Olympia) because we can't work on it in the parking lot.

The work will involve using grinders to remove rust, cleaning the area, priming, and painting. OAR will provide needed materials. If anyone has additional grinders they can loan to the cause, that would be much appreciated!

Wow! Whales at Squaxin tonight during our Masters row. What a gift to see these beautiful creatures. Please comment if you know what type of whale and what behavior we’re seeing.

A few more fun snaps of our Salmon & Seal Regatta participants!

😋 A delicious way to end a gorgeous day on the water! Our Salmon & Seal salmon bake Sunday cooked up nearly 100 pounds of salmon and 400 ears of corn devoured by 150 hungry rowers, coaches, families and volunteers. As an added bonus: we raised $4,000 for OAR boats, equipment and youth team support!

Special thanks to: Ash Shaffer & Terje Gjertsen (salmon fileters), Jacob Robinson & Dave Dishman (grill masters) and Ross Winton for being corny (corn boil)!

Finally, a big shout out to Adam and the Tumwater Baskin Robbins for the free ice cream!🍦

Until next time, THANK YOU FOR SUPPORTING OAR!
