Several WA4PT members are part of the Play, Heal, Grow: Disaster Relief Project. Please consider donating if you can. The eastside of our beautiful state is hurting badly by these horrible fires. Thank you!
Play, Heal, Grow: Disaster Relief Project is organizing a disaster relief project for the Spokane area. This will be our 7th project since 2023 and we need the help our community to help bring sensory, play, art and comfort kits to the youth and families of Spokane.
Our hearts go out to everyone affected by the devastating Spokane wildfire and all wildfires happening throughout the US. In Spokane alone more than 600 homes have been destroyed so far and 5,000+ people evacuated, countless children and families are facing uncertainty, grief, and trauma.
Our team of trauma-informed mental health professionals is assembling Play, Sensory, Art and Comfort Kits filled with supplies including and not limited to art, sensory tools, children’s books, comfort items, and caregiver resources. These kits are designed to help youth begin healing during one of the most difficult times of their lives.
Unlike organizations that provide food, clothing, and shelter, the Play, Heal, Grow: Disaster Relief Project focuses specifically on children’s emotional and mental health an essential need that is often overlooked during disaster response.
