ATTENTION 4TH AND FINAL HEARING HB251.
HB 251 will have a 4th hearing for ALL TESTIMONY before the Senate Armed Services, Veterans Affairs and Public Safety Committee on Wednesday, June 3rd at 2:30 PM.
Once again, this was added last minute to the agenda for the week. It is a slightly altered version of HB 251, but one that still has problems as they're now saying you can buy drones during the 24 months after the bill goes into effect, but then they also have a complete stop on use the same day state/local agencies can no longer buy. Which does not help with any type of transition period.
Please take the time and read what North East Ohio UAS coordination group has put out as templates for opposition letters. It is critical that we get as many opposition letters for this fourth and final testimony. To try to push out the timeline further to allow agencies that have a realistic transition period.
Also, if anyone is willing to testify in person at the Senate, please reach out as we can try to offer any assistance to you if you’re able to attend the more letters and more in person opposition, we have the better.
While writing your opposition letters, I would also include the recent report that was put out by OnDefend. The report was an independent security assessment and it found no evidence of hidden back doors or foreign data transmission on DJI drones they tested. I attached a link that mentions that report.
This is your last chance as if this passes as written it will decimate your programs
