🎁 YCC’s Spirit of Giving is back!

Help make the holidays brighter for families at YCC Family Crisis Center by sponsoring a child or parent, or making a monetary donation. With your support, we hope to make the holidays brighter for even more families this year. Thank you for being part of our community! 💜

✨ Sponsor a Child: Provide clothing, books, and boots or shoes. YCC will share a wish list with the child’s sizes and interests. Please return gifts unwrapped.

✨ Sponsor a Parent: Provide self-care items, cozy blankets, or holiday treats.

✨ Make a Monetary Donation: Help fill gaps in sponsorships and ensure families receive needed items.

Important dates for sponsors:

October 12: Sponsorships open to the public.

November 30 - December 4, 2026: Sponsors must deliver all gifts to YCC unwrapped, with a wish list form attached.

Last year, your generosity helped provide gifts to 60 families, including 130 children, through our domestic violence shelter, sexual assault recovery program, and A Place to Grow at YCC childcare center.

As we wrap up the first part of our Love Should Feel Safe 💜campaign, we want to remind you: you should never have to lose yourself to keep a relationship.

Healthy relationships allow you to maintain your identity, friendships, independence, and sense of self. Love should support who you are, not control who you become.

Next, we’ll take a closer look at what it can look like when those healthy foundations are replaced by control and abuse. Together, let’s learn to recognize the signs.

Healthy relationships allow people to communicate openly, establish boundaries, and build trust without control or manipulation.

As we continue our Love Should Feel Safe 💜 campaign, we’re highlighting the qualities that help relationships feel safe and healthy.

In recognition of Domestic Violence Awareness Month in October, we display Purple flags that serve as a poignant, visible symbol of awareness, remembrance, and solidarity💜🏳️.

Each purple flag typically represents an individual affected by domestic abuse within a community, transforming abstract statistics into a tangible physical display. The color purple carries deep historical meaning in advocacy—symbolizing courage, peace, survival, and a commitment to ending relationship violence.

By placing purple flags on public lawns, college campuses, and community grounds, advocacy groups aim to break the silence surrounding domestic violence, honor victims and survivors, and direct those in need to life-saving resources💜🏳️.

En reconocimiento al Mes de Concientización sobre la Violencia Doméstica en octubre, exhibimos banderas moradas que sirven como un símbolo conmovedor y visible de concientización, recuerdo y solidaridad💜🏳️.

Cada bandera morada suele representar a una persona afectada por la violencia doméstica dentro de una comunidad, transformando las estadísticas abstractas en una manifestación física tangible. El color morado tiene un profundo significado histórico en la defensa de esta causa: simboliza el valor, la paz, la supervivencia y el compromiso de poner fin a la violencia en las relaciones.

Al colocar banderas moradas en jardines públicos, campus universitarios y espacios comunitarios, los grupos de defensa buscan romper el silencio que rodea a la violencia doméstica, honrar a las víctimas y sobrevivientes, y orientar a quienes lo necesitan hacia recursos que pueden salvarles la vida💜🏳️.

October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month(DVAM), and YCC Family Crisis Center is reminding our community that everyone deserves to feel safe in their relationships.

Love Should Feel Safe 💜is a community awareness campaign focused on helping people recognize that healthy relationships should be built on safety, respect, support, and trust. While the campaign centers on the idea that love should feel safe, it also creates space to recognize warning signs of abuse, stand with survivors, and encourage the community to take action.

Octubre es el Mes de Concientización sobre la Violencia Doméstica, y el Centro de Crisis Familiar YCC le recuerda a nuestra comunidad que todas las personas merecen sentirse seguras en sus relaciones.

«El amor debe sentirse seguro 💜» es una campaña de concientización comunitaria enfocada en ayudar a las personas a reconocer que las relaciones saludables deben basarse en la seguridad, el respeto, el apoyo y la confianza. Si bien la campaña se centra en la idea de que el amor debe ser seguro, también crea un espacio para reconocer las señales de alerta del abuso, apoyar a las sobrevivientes y alentar a la comunidad a tomar medidas contra la violencia doméstica.

The Crime Victims Fund (CVF) is the primary source of funding for services that support survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault, child sexual abuse, trafficking, and other crimes. Yet today, the CVF is dangerously low, putting critical, lifesaving services and victims’ lives at risk.

Communities are already feeling the impact. Programs have been forced to reduce services, lay off staff, and, in some cases, close their doors entirely. Without immediate action, communities will feel less safe, and more survivors will be left without the support they need to heal, rebuild their lives, and get back to work.

The Crime Victims Fund Stabilization Act ( ) offers a bipartisan, commonsense solution to stabilize the CVF using non-taxpayer dollars, ensuring continuity of services while Congress works toward a long-term fix.

The House unanimously passed the bill, and now, it’s time for the Senate to do the same! Pass the Crime Victims Fund Stabilization Act now. Survivors can’t afford to wait!
