Art has the power to heal, to speak when words fail, and to ensure no one feels truly alone.
We are deeply moved and honored to share a beautiful donation from a former YCC client. She has gifted our center a powerful series of large-scale oil paintings that chronicle her personal journey from abuse and heartbreak to hope and restoration.
We have displayed these pieces in a deeply symbolic way: as our clients climb the stairs to the shelter, they will walk alongside her journey. As they ascend toward help, the display honors her path, ultimately culminating in her piece "Longing for Hope" right as they enter the shelter doors.
"My hope is that these paintings help other women know they are not alone and show that hope, peace, and happiness are possible again on the path toward healing." – Former YCC Client
We would like to thank her, not only for the artwork but for her courage, and for leaving a beacon of light, comfort, and validation on our walls for the next survivor walking through our doors. 💜

We are proud to support the Utah Department of Health and Human Services Division of Aging and Adult Services as they work to raise awareness for the vital resources and challenges facing older adults in our communities.
Join them on June 16 for the annual Utah Elder Abuse Awareness Day Virtual Conference. This year's session, "Seen and Safe: Protecting older adults facing isolation, mistreatment, and neglect," will dive deep into how we can all better support and protect vulnerable seniors.
The free virtual conference will feature insights from two incredible experts:
Dr. Kristin Lees Haggerty – Director of the National Collaboratory to Address Elder Mistreatment
Dr. Timothy Farrell – University of Utah Health
Whether you are a professional working in aging services or a community member who wants to look out for your neighbors, this conference is for you. Together, we can ensure our seniors feel safe.

This Memorial Day, YCC would like to take a moment to remember and honor the courageous servicemen and women who made the ultimate sacrifice for our freedom. Their legacy of selflessness is a debt we can never fully repay, but it is one we can honor daily by building a safer, stronger, and more compassionate community.

A huge thank you to Ogden Contemporary Arts and Alix Wright for bringing creativity, confidence, and joy to the children in our community through the Young Artists’ Workshop!

We are now in the 3rd week of this wonderful hands-on art class series, where kids have been exploring painting, drawing, and crafts in a fun and welcoming environment. With small class sizes, weekly projects, and all materials provided, these classes have created such a meaningful opportunity for our families.

We are so grateful for the partnership and dedication of OCA and Alix Wright in helping spark imagination and encourage young artists to express themselves through creativity.
