SAMHSA Chief of Staff Dr. Timothy Westlake joined physicians, clinicians, dedicated advocates, Great American Recovery Initiative Executive Director Monty Burks, and Great American Recovery Co-Chair Kathryn Burgum at the White House National Transformation Forum on Addiction as a Chronic Disease.

The forum brought together leaders and experts to discuss the Great American Recovery and efforts to transform and modernize the nation’s approach to prevention, treatment, and long-term recovery support. Discussions highlighted what it means to approach addiction as a chronic disease—including screening and diagnosis, evidence-based treatment, long-term management, recovery support, and a focus on meaningful outcomes.
