What An Incredible Night At The California Surf Museum For Our Screening Of The Rising Dawn! 🎬

A Standing-Room-Only Crowd Joined Us For This Amazing Film And A Special Q&A With Director Nadi Saddy And Risa, Founder Of Paddle For Peace (P4P).
We Were Thrilled To Welcome Surfers And Friends From Senegal And Côte d’Ivoire, Along With Members Of UCSD Black Like Water Club, Paddle For Peace, And Surfrider Foundation San Diego County. 🌍

We Were Also Honored To Have , Producer And Director Of Wade In The Water: A Journey Into Black Surfing And Aquatic Culture, Join Us For The Evening!

Today We Celebrate Surfing Legend Mickey Muñoz — A True Pioneer Whose Life In The Water Has Spanned Generations Of Surfing History. 🤙

Known For His Smooth Style, Creativity, And Legendary Waterman Skills, Mickey Became One Of California Surfing’s Standout Figures During The 1950s And ’60s.

From Riding Big Waves At Waimea Bay To His Famous “Quasimodo” Stance, Mickey Has Always Brought His Own Style And Spirit To The Sport.

🏆 In 2024, Mickey Was An Honoree At The 16th Annual California Surf Museum Gala Fundraiser, Where He Was Presented With The Silver Surfer Award In Recognition Of His Lifetime Contributions To Surfing And Surf Culture.

Mickey’s Passion For The Ocean And The Surfing Community Continues To Inspire Generations Of Surfers Around The World.

Born On August 24, 1890, In Honolulu, Duke Shared His Love Of Surfing And The Spirit Of Aloha Across The Globe, Helping Introduce Generations To The Sport And Culture We Celebrate Today.

A Five-Time Olympic Medalist In Swimming And One Of Surfing’s Greatest Ambassadors, Duke’s Legacy Reaches Far Beyond His Accomplishments In The Water. His Grace, Humility, And Aloha Spirit Continue To Inspire Surfers Around The World.
