October 10, we held our first HRN Special Lake County Children’s Distribution at The People’s Choice Family Fun Center! The first HRN chicken distribution took place in October of 2011

Northbrook, we’re coming together for a night of giving. 💚

Join Hunger Resource Network on Saturday, November 8 from 3–6 PM at Sunset Foods in Northbrook for a simple way to make a direct impact in our community.

We’ll provide a shopping list of non-perishable items, and you’ll shop the store to help fill a grocery bag for a local family facing food insecurity. Each bag costs about $35 and takes less than 30 minutes to complete. Our goal is to assemble 100 bags for families in need.

Stop by, fill a bag, and help us make a meaningful difference close to home. 💚
For those who don’t have time to shop for a bag, there will be pre-packaged bags available for $35 each.

More information about our day:

Volunteers and the trucks loaded with chicken started arriving by 5:00 am. There were eight lanes set up to handle the 1200 vehicles.

The three semis loaded with chicken were positioned and two agency loading lanes were established. Needed coffee and doughnuts arrived by 6:30.

Agency distribution started at 7:20 and was completed by 9:30 am. Donations to families began at 7:40 am.

By noon, all of the 120,000 lbs. had found a home. Fantastic!!! Thank you all again!

On a side note, the first HRN chicken distribution took place in October of 2011. Linda and I are humbled and grateful for all the wonderful volunteers who have and continue to make this happen.

What a beautiful afternoon at Deer Path Inn. 👗💚

Our Fall Luncheon & Fashion Show at Deer Path Inn was filled with incredible runway looks, local boutiques, friends, and a room full of people coming together for a cause that matters.

Thank you to everyone who joined us, supported the event, donated, volunteered, modeled, and helped bring the afternoon to life.

Most importantly, your support helps Hunger Resource Network continue providing high-quality protein to neighbors facing food insecurity across Chicagoland.

We’re so grateful to everyone who made this year’s event so special. 💚

This morning, October 10, we held our first HRN Special Lake County Children’s Distribution at The People’s Choice Family Fun Center!

What a beautiful day for a wonderful cause! With great weather, an incredible team of volunteers, and 120,000 pounds of frozen chicken ready for distribution, we served hundreds of trucks, vans, and cars filled with families and community members in need.

A huge thank-you to all our dedicated volunteers who made this event possible!

"Hundreds of thousands of Illinois residents have lost access to the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) following sweeping federal policy shifts enacted last year. Data shared by the Greater Chicago Food Depository indicates that approximately 450,000 fewer people are enrolled in the program across the state, a decline of 24 percent that includes more than 100,000 children. This reduction amounts to an estimated loss of 1.25 billion dollars in federal food assistance, intensifying the challenge for households already navigating rising living costs. Recent reports show that one in three Chicago households now face food insecurity, pushing the burden of care onto a charitable food system that cannot feasibly replace the scale of federal support."
